The point is they just need a mini-jack aux input. Then anything you have will work: ipod, other mp3 player, old turn-table that barely fits in the passengers seat and you have somehow connected to the cigarette lighter for power, ANYTHING. I don't know why all cars don't have mini-jacks.

Adding a mini-jack would cut into their 40K profit margin per 911 sold.

let face it Porsche is droping the ball big time on this one , even Ferrari has got it comming . You should be able to control the ipod from the steering wheel and see the ipod screen on the Porsches in dash screen ...... 2006 folks

Porsche has consistently out-marketed itself with iPod...
for a company so savvy when it comes to pricing, this is teetering on debacle~!
and why? because of an insistence to maintain proprietary systems??

Buying a Ferrari instead of a Porsche because Porsche doesn't offer an iPod connectivity? Ouch. 
But I agree...at least they could offer some sort of USB/USB stick connectivity like VW introduced now, a highly interesting concept I must say.
BTW: I just got my iPod nano (a black 4 GB one for me with a nice Rennteam.com engravement...thanks Steve
and a 2 GB white version for my little daughter for her 5th birthday). VERY classy looking, very tiny, incredible feel and look. I also got a pair of those ETYMOTIC ear buds, incredible sound for such tiny things. 
Highly recommendable.

Did you get the Etymotic ER 4S or another model RC? I use the ER 4S a lot, very good mid range and upper spectrum clarity although the bass response can be a little thin.
My favorite headphones are the Sennheiser HD 650s, but my coworkers say I look like Princess Leia if I wear them. They are ALMOST good enough that I don't care. Sennheiser is rather odd, though, only a few of their models achieve the carefully balanced "reference" type sound I like. The HD 580, 600 and 650 line does this...just in case you are curious about them.
