Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Though I'd stretch the 997S' legs a bit on the way back from work ... good thing photo-radar here does not catch you beyond 250km/h

This is a frame grabbed from a video of it (yes its for the 997S I'm preparing but don't have much time so it wil be a while yet). Thats why the picture quality is not so good for a "photo", its also tough to drive +300km/h with one hand while you videotape and point the camera with the other

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

I'd imagine that the car was still stable at that speed if you were able to drive with only one hand.
    Thanks for the pic.
Now I can't wait to see the video.

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

    Wow ! What's that in MPH ? 191 ? Smokin !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

congrats, it's much sharper than the 308 one i posted here a year ago - with my turbo! was the street plain or were you going slightly downhill there? the nspeed seems a bit too high for me...

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Nice! I know that the speedos are a bit optimistic on Porsches, but I think the tachs are very accurate. Were you bouncing on the rev limiter?

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

I notice that you have the tire air pressure display up. Are the TP sensors refreshed quick enough to see a problem trend developing in the tires?

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Must be nice to be able to drive that fast on the roads , here in the US it is difficult to find places to drive at those speeds . There are those back roads kinds of places but if you are caught at close to 200MPH you would probably loose your license . This is why european delivery is so much fun , when you get the car back in the states things change a little .

Are you joking? You can lose your car and go to jail just for going 100mph in many states. I can't imagine what would happen in you were going 200 (remember Rodney King)?

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

What happens if you are caught in spain at 200 mph is it just a fine .

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

@ DamienL, its was rock steady

@ Stradale 189mph I believe ... maybe if I fold in the side mirrors next time then 191 is posible

@ turbolight, there was a slight decline, especially at the beginning, then it tends to level out at the end before you have to hit the brakes to shed off speed for the curve. So it helped

@ Grant, more like I softly landed on it because you don't feel it, or maybe you can't even hit it in 6th gear since the car kept going until it steadied out at 308, may be a couple of more kph were posible but ran out of straight. Its not like when you hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear were it "cuts" in.

@ Orient, if its a leak, yes it will warn you. But if its sudden depresusrization then no. You can see the display update and refresh as the tires warm up and the pressures go up.

@ OCEAN, if I were caught today, I would of lost my license too, maybe face some jail sentence but not enough to go to jail. Though it would be hard for them to catch this old dog
But I feel priviledged of the plasce we have here to drive, highways were you can drive fast (my comute was at 190-200kmh speeds in winding curvy highway in the less traffic sections), and excellent mountain roads to carve withc good surface and curves. When I go other places I realise how lucky because its adds to my quality of life, when I come back from a hard day at work I come home like new fater a drive like that. I when I go somewere on the weekend the best part is sometimes the getting there.

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Wow! You are really great, man!

I did 301kph in my 996TT and 320kph in G-car, but I had 2 hands on steering wheel.

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

awesome, thanks for the pic and i cant wait for the video. post it soon will ya..
    thanks in advance

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

If my calculations aren't off, you were travelling approximately 280 feet per second while taking the picture.

We've always known you were a great photographer but this is ridiculous!!

I'm glad you are still with us.....

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

    CARLOS!!!!!

    THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!

I was just wondering: 'when will carlos release his 997S video??" wow, instead of being captured by the radar I think at those speeds, you can easily broke it

Hey Carlos, do you remember the "angulo alex" we talk about some time ago??????

Just be carefull recording with one hand and going at 308kph with the other

Angulo alex angulo alex angulo alex!!!!

for those that don't know this angle (angulo), its the one carlos did in his last 996 carrera 4 video, the camera shows the whole steering wheel, part of the cockpit, the tach, and also a bit of the horizon!!!!!!, it was just perfect with the combination of jamiroquais music!!!

    drive safe carlos!!

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

That must have been exhilirating Carlos!

Now I'm waiting for Fanch and the X51!

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

    C and O,,
I think it's time for 'gadget guy' to find us a camera mount with remote. Otherwise , we may lose our Carlos,,and/or other Carlos wantabees...
I love speed...in everyway.... But, Be careful out there.

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

    Bravo.... Sir Carlos!

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

    NICE Carlos!!!! !Querer es poder!

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Thats incredible, I live for the day when i can "Commute" at 300km/h. I too look forward to this video and will download it as soon as I hear about it. Question about the optimism of Porsche speedometers. How accurate do you believe this to be? 308 is freaking fast but does the "optimism factor" add a couple km/h or is it as much as 10-20km/h at that speed?
Once again awesome job, next time try to keep both hands on the wheel so both hands will be able to type us a message about the next time you do it.

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Very nice work Carlos. Wind noise or engine noise dominant at that speed?

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

    omg carlos, you're nuts!!!

btw you say it was rock steady at that speed, also remember to you have the -20mm, it will help a lot i suppose, much stiffer and lower ride height for less drag at that speed?

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Have to agree...thats an amazing pic!

I was going (only) 200 in the CTT yesterday night. That felt sensational - can't imagine adding another 100 onto that!

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

IMPRESSIVE!!!!! Hope I will be able to do that without getting caught!!! But... it would be good if you find a way to be able to keep you hands on the steering wheel while filming..
I can imagine the car being stable.... People are always surprised when I say that on my sports bike I could hold the handle with one hand while driving at 250 km/h !!!!

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

Cool commute. My average speed on the way home is 25km/h!! not bad given I'm stopped for a lot of the way....

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

If you get a police traffic picture at that speed for sure they will publish it at the news papers (Last summer a BMW at 250 Km/h was a first page news at a local paper in Barcelona...)...

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

What does your wife think of the photo

Re: Had a nice "cummute" back from work today

You had to bought yourself a brand new Porsche to beat me on this one I'll be back
    Nice photo Carlos

Truth is, I'm too much of a pussy to drive max speed and then take a pic, but I'll happily let Carlos or a friend do it on a trip It won't be in France because if you get caught, it's direct to jail at those speeds, so maybe in Spain or Germany, either way, photographer will be Carlos or RC!

    Great pic Carlito! Thanks!
