    997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

Both introduced (first cars availabe to dealers) to the GERMAN market at the SAME TIME in June 2006. Now hush hush to your dealer and get your checkbook ready.

    Re: 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

Any more rumors about equipment and specs?

Not much time to free a slot in your garage...

Check older posts, I think I already said too much. Only one thing: the Turbo S will NOT be lighter than the Turbo and PCCB is already on-board.
Performance is beyond good and evil, today I heard something below 12 seconds from 0-125 mph, this is GT2 MkII level.

Any word on TCab and TSCab release (presumably simultaneously and in the USA around the same time, as well )?

    Re: 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

thanks RC, good news! look forward to the performance figures...

    Re: 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

    RC,
You're the man! Thanks for that awesome info!
Same strategy as the Carrera then, which is fine as it seems to be working allright.
And then I presume one year later, an X50 powerkit will be made available for the Turbo S! Never happy, those costumers!
Well done on the cracking info!

    Re: 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

    Nice going RC .

I should start working on a home equity loan now .

I think after the first year, along will come cabs , then DSG, then GT2? , then modest power bump for the Turbo and Turbo S to close them out ,... then ...the 998 Turbo !

    Re: 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

you said "PCCB is already on-board" on the reg turbo ???

The Americans could then use the TTS with X50 to replace the SpaceShuttle...

Hey, that's a great idea! Piggy-back two X50 powerkits, would they call it a TSX50, or maybe an X100, or maybe a 997twin-turbo/twin-powerkit.

They are launching in 997 sequence then. The Turbo cab/Turbo S cab will be out a month or 2 after the coupes.

Glad I already have my Turbo S cab deposit down and 1st at my dealer.

I feel sorry for ppl that bought the 996 Turbo S this year, the depreciation is going to own you....

Unless they build the 997 Turbos in small Ferrari like volumes , expect all current and future Turbos ( and other 911s ) to depreciate pretty much like any euro lux car , esp on this range leading model that those with the means are always upgrading to. Who wants last year's now superceded " best one ever " ?

The 993TT is the last one to hold its value at all...

No need to feel sorry at all, man, if these cars are purchased as "investments," then indeed those "investors" need a refresher course in avoiding ill-advised investments. I quite simply found the 997C2 and C2S cars I tested under-powered and not worth the $50K-ish price savings vs. the 996TT. I feel more sorry for the 997C2/C2S owners used to the power of the turbo, in turbo-limbo before the 997T's hit the street.

In fact, I might hold on to my 996TSCab and tune it this winter, then pick up the 997TSCab once available-if it comes out late summer 2006 in the USA, I won't likely get one until late fall, and by then, winter is near (and long here in the Lake Ontario snowbelt), and I wouldn't even be able to drive it hard until spring of 2007 after break-in.

I also hope Stradale is correct that the 997TCab/TSCab release is soon after coupe release. And I don't need to wait for the DSG, just build 'em with 6-speed manuals.

And I'd like to read RC's 997TS review once he gets his.

Is it just me or are the TURBO's coming a little to early??

I suspect anyone w/a brain who bought a 996TTS knew (and didn't care that) it would depreciate like any other P/SL55.....however, also suspect depreciation costs of a $210Kish 430 Coupe w/CCM, sport seats, engine bay cf, nav, etc (i.e., appropriate equip, not a base flippable 430) driven 15K mi/yr will easily rival those of an appropriately-equipped $155K 996TTS also driven 15K mi/yr.....

Strad, didn't 997S Coupe come out in 8/04 and Cabs in ?3/05?....that's more like a 6-8 mo Coupe vs Cab delay.....makes much more sense to launch a 997TTSCab in early Spring '07 when SF/LA/NYC are all entering their best open-top driving weather....

Yeah, what's the per-unit P profit on a 997TTS again? No co. delays $100K+ cars just for fun .....and given there's no DSG/dramatic AWD-E-diff tech in this 997TTS@launch, P's marketing and finance depts, not R&D, prob decided how soon after 997SCabs they could launch 997TTS w/o prematurely shooting their product pipeline wad.....

Perfect timing. Your 2-year lease on your 997S should be due to expire at around that time.

Which are you thinking of getting? The 997TT or the 997TTS?

No, the F430 will hold its value ALOT more. There's a 5 year wait list for one at MSRP. The V8 Ferraris hold 100% or more of their value for 3 years when driven lightly. There aren't many driven 15k/yr, but I imagine that they'll still hold their value better than the P-cars...

Sure, they did. I wonder if they'll think twice when they take the hit trying to upgrade to 997TS.

once upon a time... the "turbo" badge was just enough. a statement of its own. (and the "S" was just a hyper-special at the end of the model run.)

now PAG continues what they first did with the boxster and then with the carrera.

    A: "i own a turbo"
    B: "oh. the S?"
    A: "erm, no"
    B: "boo"

    Re: 997 Turbo and 997 Turbo S

Rc ...it's possible that PAG introduce 997 GT3 and 997 GT3 RS at the same time?
    or maybe a GT3 S ??
