    Couple of things...

    About the power. I'm still running in and I've been very good, under 4200 revs so far, but even down there the car pulls so strongly if you whip through the gears I just can't imagine what it's like up above 5500. How is the power curve? Does it get stronger or flatten out? I know I know, I could just wait and see but I need to know now!

    And has anyone in the UK replaced a windscreen? I got a crack in it on the second day My insurance company will only pay 125 quid of it so I'm thinking I might leave it until I get another crack, it's bound to happen. Any idea on the price for a new one?

    Much more power to tap. Didn't you test drive one and push it? I did... several!

    Nah...had a twenty minute test drive and drove it like a Nun on valium, think I was too scared of breaking it. :-)

    I'm afraid I'll be too careful w/ mine when it arrives. While test driving, I went over bumps, RR tracks, around curves fast, broke hard, and accelerated hard. Very impressed w/ ride and power... duh!

    Don't know exact day but it's near 3rd wk of this month! Black/Sand S Cab. My first!

    It is on fire when you hit 5500, literally explodes and you get a silly grin on your face, hit redline... then you shift and repeat until it is time to shift again... now you are grinning so it hurts Get the message?

    Cracked my windshield too. Got it fully replaced and did not pay anything. But then again, this is in Switzerland

    Lol! Well I'm staying away from 5500 then if it "literally explodes"

    Thanks Bluelines, this is just the sort of stuff to get the blood racing. I'm going to stay under 4200 until 1000 miles, then I may start stretching her a teensy bit.

    My 997S cab uses 3ltrs more than my former 996... only because i can't resist revving up to 7k ... the sound, vibrations and kick are there from 5.5k on

    I cracked my windscreen. Got it replaced by Autoglass - had to take it in as they don't do Porsche 997s on the roadside. Fantastic job though, have to say.

    My insurance company paid the full amount except for my excess of Pounds50.

    Exactly - usually you only have to pay a windscreen excess of either Pounds50 or Pounds60 with most insurance companies.

    How come that isn't the case here?

    Is your no claims bonus protected or guaranteed? Does it get affected if you claim? I guess these are relevant considerations to bear in mind...good luck anyway!

    Okay easy_rider thanks for that, I can now claim the current "Twat of the Week Award"! I re-read the small print after your post and you are correct. They will only pay 125 quid of it if I go to an outside company, if I use their prefered glass people however, they pay the lot except the first sixty quid.
    Problem solved!

    Now, where's that bloke I lent my wallet to...
