victim of car vandalism?

Over the time I have had a few porsches they have picked up alot of key marks and once even a dent from a kick (in covent garden at night and there was a shoe mark where the dent was). I have always parked my car in a garage at night. Just wondering what advice you would all have about this subject?

Im scared cos i know i will check on my new one every 5 minutes.

Wow, I am always worrying about that too... but really all you can do is be careful where you park, no tight spaces, an area where theres lots of people can help. The sad truth is, if some jealous little punk is hell bent on damaging your car, he probably will. All we can do is try and minimize the risk by parking where we can keep an eye on it, etc, as well as other common sense things. It turns my stomach to think of some miscreant vandalizing a 997, any 997, or any P-car for that matter. Mine is always garaged, and I still worry as much as you do

Because that would ruin my day.. and his if I caught him, I'm not a violent guy, but he would be feeling some pain if you get my drift

I had my rear window (cab) sliced open about 3 months after I got my car because I left my gym bag on the back seat. I hope the thief was happy with my sweaty gym clothes (although the bag was a leather Tumi which kinda hurt).

Most recently, I parked in front of my house because my friend was blocking my garage door and I was too lazy to move their car to put mine in the garage. Well wouldn't you know during the night, someone took something off the sidewalk (night before garbage pick up) and smashed it in the middle of my hood. No other cars were vandalized that night and they didn't break in. Envy? Someone I know? Can't let it get you down - that's why I have good insurance and the repair was flawless.

I have been lucky the worse I've had is a KFC chicken leg left on my front trunk along with a coke cup and straw on the roof..

Did,nt impress me still to say the least but no damage..

The shoe mark where somone kicked the car was just infront of a police station so it doesnt matter where you park I think.

I also saw a older 996 get punched just this sunday night as i was on a bus back from a party. i was thinking at the time that the person was brave parking it in that area when a guy passing punched the door and ran off.

It wasnt my car but i cursed him cos i knew how he would feel after he got back to it.

Yeah, you can't even trust the police! Was it a plod-sized boot print?

Bad news though. I think if I was going out at night in London, I'd take public transport. Too many pi$$ed students about.

The police? It has nothing to do with them my friend. Thinking that your car is extra safe because it's in front of a police station is wishful thinking.. they are working, not trying to keep tabs on your car. Think of all the riff-raff that goes in and out of a police station, that is one place I would NEVER park my car.. unless you want pissed off felons and other people who feel they are victims of society to take out their anger on something they can probably never have.

The very first car that I could afford to buy new was keyed on the 7th night I had her. It was a 1992 BMW 325is. Black on black. Had money I saved from working 2 summer jobs while in College so when I got my first solid full time job I decided to buy the car. I was always a huge car nut. Spent lots of time in Auto shop and fixed up and sold my first 2 used cars for more than I paid. So I bought the bimmer and was with a couple of friends at a park one night. Walked back to the car and someone keyed every single panel. Both doors, hood, fenders, quarter panels, roof, trunk, everything. Even played tick tack toe on the hood with a key. I was crushed. Thank God I didn't catch the guy I'm sure I'd be in prison right now for murder. Seriously.

It could happen to any car. Porsche, BMW, Cadillac etc. etc. etc. As long as it looks new and expensive there's a greater chance somebody will be jealous enough to vandalize it. But the last thing I would ever do is change the type of car I drive because of what somebody else might do to it. Not going to happen. I also think you're more likely to get hit from behind by some clueless old person then to get vandalized. So it doesn't matter what kind of car you're in.

With the vandalism all you can do is take common sense precautions and hope it never happens. One tip I will give you is this - Don't park your car on an angle taking up 2 spots at a public parking lot. While this might help in preventing someone from opening up their door and giving you a ding I bet it's more likely some jerk will make you a target and trash your car. Whenever possible I try to find a spot that is far away from everybody else (as long as it's not hidden from view) and park there.

It almost makes you wonder if it's worth the hassle of owning a nice car with some of the people out there. If you're in a high risk area for vandalism it really isn't worth it to leave the car unattended.

London is not great for safe parking.. hence, I ended up buying a Mazda 323 for Pounds2k to use for those journeys where I could not trust the parking location.

LMAO Prashan , I do this now but the old banger I use for dodgy trips belongs to the Mrs , she dont mind..

Her view is if you cant take any car anywhere then it is not practical..

....now you understand why SF software guys seem to be buying up Carbon Bch for their wkend escapes (when not up for LV's intensity).....
