    Re: F430 commercial

Nice, they show this at the begining of the factory tour. I was there July 4th, 05. Great piece of video.

    Re: F430 commercial

I just saw my second 430 in the flesh, a few hours ago at the local mall. Beautiful car. Red of course.

    Re: F430 commercial

I saw 3 tonight here in Miami beach at the Ocean Drive party for the MTV awards all 3 at the same hotel ...... from what I saw they come with a beautiful girl in the front seat .

    Re: F430 commercial

1- the sounds the 430 makes are fabulous
2- there is something mildly disturbing about watching a $200K sportscar blitz through a bunch of poverty stricken towns in Mexico
3- if only the Carrera Panamericana were still running, that would quite a spectacle I think

I was thinking the same thing. Hell, I feel funny driving a new Porsche back and forth to work in the Newport Beach / Irvine area, where most cars are $25K and less (when new). Of course, there are plenty of BMW's and Mercedes here, but I really do feel a little out of place. So, I can't imagine even driving a new Porsche down to Mexico, let alone an F430.

Alan, just drive your 997S on I-5 from Anaheim to dwntn LA (or on 90%+ of LA region's other fwys)....cars ain't all that different from those of most 3rd World countries.....median age about 10 yrs, cost <$15K when new...
They neglected to show the fuel truck following the 430 around Mexico....you think the 91 oct in CA is weak for $100K+ sportscars?....

    Re: F430 commercial

I'll really stick out like a sore thumb.

I realized this phenomena when I drove my 997S from Newport to Westlake Village, CA during a weekday morning do get my PSE and sport shift retrofit done. I took the 405 to the 101. I don't think I encountered ONE car that was more expensive than mine.

It's obvious that people mainly drive their fancy, expensive (Porsche/Mercedes/Ferrari) cars on the weekend over here. That's when driving a new Porsche allows you to blend in.

    Re: F430 commercial

Isn't this the ad that launched the 430 last year? never tire of hearing that exhaust note

    Re: F430 commercial

    yes it is.

Yeah, the cars are generally decrepit around most SF fwys as well....
My theory is that most high-end cars don't hit many fwys....tend to use surface streets on LA's Westside/Malibu/NwptBch, etc....and tend to use "select" fwys like San Joaquin Hills Tollway/280 on SF Penin/Merritt in CT when they do need to do fwy time....

NYC's only saving grace is many of those w/ancient cars like those in LA and SF don't own a car and are on subways/buses....but the funniest sights are in midtown Manhattan where one often sees "working-class" guys (i.e., no blk S-Class and driver following them around Manhattan) getting into a gruesome cab which is typically worth less than the guy's suit or watch.....

    Re: F430 commercial

    what's a freeway???

A road typically without stop signs or traffic signals with posted speeds around 65 mph. I believe in Europe they are labelled motorways.

Pretty much so. And it's getting harder and harder to hit much more than 120 nowadays...

Aaah, those retirees from places like Aspen, Palm Beach, Monte Carlo, etc.....deteriorating cognitive function, circulation to key body parts, etc.....just put them in the back of an S-Class to be driven around to their doctor appts and golf outings....it's just terrible when the codgers can't figure out which blk S-Class is theirs...

    Re: F430 commercial

it's true, all my Hollywood projects and internet endeavors are getting in the way of TRUE progress!!

Beware of our toll road that you mentioned above. The 73 is a notorious speed trap here in Orange County.

Appreciate the heads-up I had thought 73 Tollway was LA's closest rendition of 280 on SF Peninsula......elegant scenery, more than a few high-end cars seen in wkday rush hrs (as well as wkends) and a fwy fully capable of safe 65MPH travel....

    Re: F430 commercial

It is a nice road to drive on. You want to avoid downhill grades which allow people to speed too easily. The CHP likes to hide at the bottom of these. Especially on the southbound 73, where my wife got her ticket.

And you're right, the 73 reminds me of the 280, without the toll booths.
