    Rear Aero Wiper?

    Guys,

Any of you have the rear wiper blade?

The rear window is so flat that I can see where it could be useful. By the same token I haven't really missed it on my 996.

Right now I don't have one on my 997S order for purely aesthetic reasons.

Should I get one on a car that will be a daily driver? Or should I just stick with the Rain-X?

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

Living in upstate NY, it's a must for me. Snow can accumulate in a hurry. Where you are, unless for some reason I'm very wrong, I really don't see the need.

I have it, and it's really useful when I'm stucked in the trafic while raining (quite always in my country...)
It's not inaesthetic imho, quite discrete. At least I used it more than an open roof...

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

    can it be retrofitted?

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

Sorry for the stupid question, but what is rain-X??

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

Rain-X is a rain-repellent. Comes in a bottle, and you clean your glass, then apply the Rain-X. The rain beads and runs off the glass. I apply it to my windscreen as well (though some people don't like doing that) and in heavy rain, traveling at 50-60mph you don't even need the wipers on to be able to see clearly enough to drive, particularly at night.

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

I have it, I like it... but could also live without it

Sounds quite usefull cause i won't spec my 911 with the rear wipers... I'm not sure if it or something like it is availabe here in SA though because i've never heard of it before...

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

I don't have the rear wiper and have never once wished I had it. Don't forget that it comes without a washer so it's not much use when your rear window is dirty. I also think it clutters the back of the car.

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

I have it and to be honest don't even notice it on the car as I think it is pretty unobtrusive when in it's "parked" position. It is useful on motorway driving as you can get a lot of spray around the rear window. I'd certainly order it again.

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

If you think you need it get it and follow my "ingenius" idea: remove the thing in summer and find a black cap in the hardware "parts department" at Home depot. (they have those thosands of little drawers with specialized household hardware in them). Put it back on in winter.

Since you live in FL I wouldn't bother.

I think it's ONLY useful where is snows. When it is snowing you should be really paranoid about what's going on BEHIND you. In the rain? Not such a big deal; rear view side mirrors are sufficient. The thing DOES look ugly on such a beautiful car.

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

I have one, but just today I was in a cloudburst and remarked to my passenger that despite the rain almost overwhelming the front wipers, there was little or no rain at all at 60 mph on the rear screen.
I will not have another one.

I absolutely agree. I would also like to add that when traveling at slower speeds rain-x aids the wipers in getting the water off of the windshield. The beading of the water also greatly increases visiblity. I couldn't drive in Vancouver without it.

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

hey i am from vancouver too!

where i can get the rain-x

    Re: Rear Aero Wiper?

I believe I got it just from a Canadian Tire store. Its not an expensive product but in my opinion its Essential.

For anyone who's still curious as to what it does the pics following show 2 windshields, first 1 w/ then 1 w/o. Mind you they are both at rest I'm sure you'll still get the point.
