Apart from the headlights this car also has the CS rims. I'm not qite sure, but as far as I know you can't order them for the normal Modena? 
Maybe Ferrari simply test's bi-xenon-headlights in this car...?
To be honest: I don't think, that Ferrari tests the Modena-successor with this car, I don't even belive, that this could be the Modena-facelift under the skin of this car. Did you recognize that there isn't one picture from the back of this car?
There are several Modena-prototypes with 2 instead of 4 exhaust pipes (they're equipped with Maserati's V8), but I don't think, that this is one of them, otherwise we would have seen more than just this single picture of the car.
What do you guys think?

hi everyone -- great site, pics, commentary! 
after falling for lambo's gallardo, i think ferrari realises the new challenge they have with a modena successor -- i'm sure we'll see the V10 and a fairly re-shaped body beyond what was originally planned just months ago...

Don't think so. First I have never seen headlamp conversions, second the overall appearance of the car looks too bad for a guy, who invests money in aftermarket changes in his Ferrari.

That this car is only a mule for new headlights is just a idea because it's the only way I could explain a Ferrari test car (because it's NO private car) which doesen't look so much different to the current model.
I'm sorry I can't tell you too much about the Modena-V10-rumour (but i can tell you guys, that it's not so much more than you already know), the only thing I'm allowed to tell you, is that there is so far NO mule for a V10-Modena.
To the Maserati-V8-Modena: There were several pix of a Modena with, equipped with Maserati's V8 in an older issue of AutoBild, but that's one and a half year (or even more?) ago. But the only differences you could see, were that this car has only 2 (one on each side) exhaust pipes. But this car could only be a test car and this doesen't mean, that the Maserati V8 will finally make into production in the Modena-successor (as far as I know, there won't be a Modena-Modifica, but maybe a heavily modified Modena which will get a new name, like they did it with the Testarossa in the 80's).
