Not a lot imo , two very different cars which will attract two kinds of buyer . The Aston is the older mans car..

Quick couple of q's on the AMv8..
Whien have you been told your car will be ready? How does this compare with inital estimates?
Which dealer are you working with, and what number were you on their list.
Think the AMV8 will finally kill the 'old mans' image for Aston, I'm certainly not old......

Can't wait to see some of these Astons on the road. I agree that it's a car I think of as being for someone in their 40s rather than 30s, but also agree that this car could change this view.
It will be interesting to see the reviews of the car compared (no doubt) to the 997. I'm pretty confident that the Aston will come out as a good GT car and the 997 the sporty option, but I don't think that is what AM want. Also, it will be interesting to see if the British press will be heavily biased towards the AM with it's British roots. Should be interesting cos they never have a bad word to say about the 997...

I've seen the new AM V8 on the road totally undisguised 4 times now around Northampton. It is a left hand drive car on UK 05 registration plates in British racing green metallic with a very orangey/tan coloured interior. I ran alongside it in heavy traffic heading towards the M1. I was in my Cayenne at the time and got a good view looking down at it. I have to say I would switch over to it in a heartbeat from my 997 on looks alone as it looks stunning and very taughtly proportioned....... and I'm still in my 30's by the way

Yes a lovely car but theres still nothing quite like a 911 in motion imo , cant explain it but the sheer presence is immense..

I agree that the 997 is a fantastic car. There is no doubt in my mind though that the AM V8 has more prescence. Perhaps the 997TT will redress that but the AM is a car that needs no spoilers to grab your attention. If you haven't seen this car in the metal yet, reserve judgement until you do. BRG is hardly a stand out colour yet I haven't failed to spot this car heading towards me on the opposite side of a dual carriageway 3 times and once on the same side. It is getting good pre launch write ups and has the man behind the 993 leading it's development.

In fact AMS has done an exclusive little comparison on these two cars a while ago - have to dig out the mag to requote. I just remember that the AM's longer wheelsbase give it a bit more comfortable ride, opposite to the Carrera's sportier feel.
The 380 horses in the AM feel about as strong as the S's 355!

Strange because I was sure I did spot a grey one on my way back from Reading going down the M4 but I did not get a great side shot of it I just got the rear but as you stated this is early and the BRG one is LHD.With regard to spoilers I would never put one on a 997 because I feel it does'nt need it , its just my opinion..
