    Finally got my new 997S!!

    Just finished applying my sixth coat of Zaino and thought I would post a pic with the car parked in my front yard. Did the mod to the exhaust (put a small ball bearing in the tube and then reattached), just added about 1/2 quart of oil (have about 325 miles) and ordered clear side markers. I just got the sport exhaust, 6 speed, sport chrono and floor mats for options. An absolutely stunning car!!!

    Looks great in red with those wheels. Clear repeaters will look much better and stop the current orange speck from standing out so much in contrast to the red bodywork. Go on, get some gold crested wheel centers to complete the job!

    why is is that in the US side indicators are orange? I've noticed it on other cars when i've been over there. The M3 even has orange reflectors on the side of the front bumper in addition to the orange side indicator lights.

    Is this a legal requirement? And if so what is the logic behind it?

    I took the advice and ordered colored crests for my wheel caps and crested value stem covers! With those small changes and the clear sides the car will look even better - if that is possible!!

    I have attached a few more pics - a little smaller this time

    That's strange. Red seemed to be one of the most popular colors for 911s in Germany about 15 years ago, or am I deluding myself because I chose that color?

    I never understand why anyone would order them as an option for a new car . Buy them from the parts department for the same or much lower internet Porsche dealers price and you have two sets , not one , including the " free " monochrome ones that come with the car .

    The exhaust mod is the same one discussed on this site. I just plugged the rubber hose with a small ball bearing and pushed in into the hose far enough so that I could reattach the hose. I plugged the rubber hose closest to the rear of the car based upon the recommendation from the Porsche mechanic where I purchased the car. I prefer this method to the one discussed because the hose is reconnected and the engine compartment appears OEM.
