I reason they will want to sell the current 996 platform in the C4S Cab, TT cab, GT3, possible Speedster and possible Turbo S into a shortened second model year ( MY 2005 ).
They realy DO need to bring the new Boxster first ( MY 2005 ) as that model is realy dragging them down right now . Also a way to " beta" new systems on the entry level car before the 911's revision.
Porsche never introduces new models within a MY, so spring 2005 is quite impossible.
I'd say that this is what happens next at Porsche (not confirmed, just a personal guess):
Summer 2004: new Boxster generation
Summer 2005: new 911 generation
Spring 2006: new 911 Turbo generation
Summer 2006: new 911 GT3 generation
Again: this is pure speculation.
I think you're right. It's great that they keep improving, but it's sad to see our favorites (current GT3 for example) become obsolete so soon (2006 for gt3 if you're right). At least those with budgets to allow cars like the CGT can enjoy being top dogs for a little longer.

At its heart is a reworked version of the current car's twin-turbo 3.6-litre flat six with over 450 HP in standard trim - up by 30 HP. Exact technical details remain scarce, though Porsche is thought to have side-stepped direct injection - a technology it has already developed - in raising the turbo's output. Instead, the increase is said to come from a series of subtle enhancements to the ECU, coupled with further improvements to the VarioCam variable valve timing system and a moderate increase in boost pressure.
New transmission technology is also claimed to have played its part in pumping the torque rating of the new turbo. Along with a beefed up version of the existing six-speed manual and a new six-speed automatic, Porsche is developing the next-generation Turbo to accept an advanced double clutch gearbox similar to that offered by Audi on the TT V6 and pioneered by Porsche itself on the 956/962 sports racing cars of the'80s/'90s."
