sfo:A Porsche technician I know who works in a UK OPC was allocated a 911R (white, red stripes and black side decals) for his loyal service of 15 years and continuing .. very heart warming. Some OPCs have a heart! That OPC only had 2 911R allocations
should be more than that. I know at least 6 guys working around 30-33 years and one also still working part time, and lots of happy ,royal customer just wanted them to service their cars, nothing they've got, even a 1/18 scale porsche.its all politics

This is more than heartwarming, this is amazing.
The allocation of those cars will never be fair. The only way I would see to give 100 to the top clients and the rest give out by lottery. As long as it is in the fairy tale of each center it makes people frustrated and angry!

Prices will come to some reason, but limited models will always keep a good value , unless we come to a general car price correction .
I was yesterday at a car auction , just the presentation , sales are today . Estimated prices for older Porsches are crazy .

Targa Tim:911R won due to manual transmission, that's all
The 911R won because there was no R8 in this comparison...
On a more serious note: No Lamborghini Huracan/Aventador, no AMG GT S...? Sorry but not really a relevant comparison in my opinion. Corvette Z06 was also missing...

fritz:DaveC:During the Soviet era a sign in a Moscow store read: "If you don't see what you want, want what you see."
Any truth in the rumour that that sign will be hung up in voting booths on November 8?
Yes, the parallel is disturbingly accurate.

Let's hope other manufacturers take notice and follow suit
73 Carrera RS 2.7 Carbon Fiber replica (1,890 lbs), 06 EVO9 with track mods. Former: 16 Cayman GT4, 73 911S, Two 951S's, 996 C2, 993 C2, 98 Ferrari 550, 79 635CSi
Inspirine:What is not a surprise is that the R is slow on track.
How can you say that? The only cars that were faster had much more power and torque.

Totally agree.
Ugly (think about the poorly made diffusor, or ridiculous stickers or seat garnment), slow on track, less power and torque than competition, and price tag very high due to limitation of production and phenomenal marketing. That ranking 1st is a shame. If they rank 1st that R, where are they going to rank next 991.2 GT3 that will bury it performance wise, be available with manual, with better cooled engine, for one third of the market price?

It's not Porsche's fault that the secondary market has been so crazy about the prices for this car (aside from limiting production to fewer than 1,000 cars). From an MSRP pricing perspective, the price is not disproportionate to the competition (it is cheaper than all the cars that were faster).
The 991.2 GT3 with manual will be slightly faster around a track (but no reason to believe it will "bury" it with the same motor/gearbox and a bit more weight). It's natural that new models are faster than previous ones. The R costs the same as the RS and is not badly outclassed by it (just has different priorities).

May I strongly doubt that? Such a sign would have provoked an immediate arrest.

"The R costs the same as the RS and is not badly outclassed by it (just has different priorities)."
That is the point. The original "R" was a race car, stripped like crazy to save weight, and engaged in various racing activity. That one was certainly quicker than stock car.
The new "R" is nowhere near a racing car, and that's a shame and a blame for Porsche. Different priorities...for snob client that don't race or track their cars. And sounds like there are way too many out there, but that's a different story.
The R is what the GTS should be.
