SL55PP and CL65 Testdrives!
I am not the best drivers when it comes to reports but ask me any questions and I'll try my best to answer.
Great cars.
My favorite is the 55PP, PP stand for Pack Performance (Bigger brakes, sportier chassis, 300 kmh limiter but mostly, ESP reworked for a later intervention!!!).
Much more fun than the 65.
The 65 is all about dragster fun! ESP comes on if you just press the right pedal, you need a sensible touch with that to get it of the line quick.
The most impressive in the in speed acceleration, say from 150 kmh onwards, press the pedal and it feels like you're accelerating from standstill! Very impressive but harldy fun.
In the country roads, it feels very heavy, because well, it is, but that level of performance in a proper 4 seater (we were 4 during the test, two friends, and the chief of Sales for Merc France) is simply unheard of.
Funnily enough, the Merc boss told me that to him, best sports car ever is the 911! Good man, but within the AMG range, by far... The SLK55.
It's a shame I didn't get to drive it.
The SL55PP is great, sounds just as great as the 65 but different, but the greatest thing of course, is the more sporty ESP, you can actually feel what the car is doing, and somehow, I could be wrong but I felt the V8 was more keen to rev. You can swing the back of the car before the ESP comes on, very nice and impressive for a car of that weight.
Please don't hesitate to ask questions.
Next step is to get Merc to lend me an SLR for the weekend, might be difficult but I'm getting there!
Please enjoy the pictures, they're not in the order but some very cool cars including a Mille Miglia winning 300SL Gullwing, my favourite of course!
And from the modern cars, well, interestingly enough, the CLK cab Armani is superb, not worth the 20000 Euros over a normal CLK500 but the craftsmanship is just amazing inside and the mat grey colour of the outside, superb!!!
