Limited Anniversary 996 coming!

to celebrate the 40th birthday of the 911 porsche will release an anniversary model in october (presentation at the IAA car fair in september), limited to 1,963 units (1963 is the 911's date of birth, btw.).

seems that it'll get the "powerkit" as standard since they say it'll reach 290 kph and it'll be the fastest N/A 911 after the GT3.

price in germany will be EUR 95,616.00

very nice

I think it looks great, I particularly the combo of Turbo front spoiler in a narrow body and the Boxster S style chrome circled instruments.

IMO it looks a little bit aftermarket. but i'm glad that it's not getting the wood interior like the 2000 millennium coupé.

anyway, porsche is trying hard to sell the aging 996 -- i'm counting 13 derivatives including the GT3RS and this one.

Looks like they got different pieces that was left over from other cars and put this one together

Looks different and nice though, specially making only 1963 of them.

I think the silver is the same as used on the Carrera GT. Don't know what they call it tho.

I still like my "exclusive" treatment better.

Funny thing....

WE have been doing silver consoles, dash trim and trim rings for quite some time. Guess Porsche finally noticed.

I love the fact that it has both LSD and PSM - that means it's possible to combine these two technologies for the first time and we'll maybe see LSD as an option on the 997

i do not agree...aerokit looks cheap...on every 996 and boxster...like a scooter on an amusement park

i think you should drive porsche how it's built from factory...powerkit is something different, thats ok...

if you need wings, there is a porsche called gt3 or gt2...

if you need different bumpers front and rear, you can take a 4s or turbo, take whatever you need but leave it original.

i agree, personally. i would never change anything on my car aftermarket!

BUT i accept if people do so and i think it's nice... the car world would be boring without aftermarket cars. it's interesting.

I like clean looks too. But I agree with Zz, people should do whatever they like, I mean, there's plenty on offer out there from Porsche or other tuning firms.
It's all about exclusivity and I fully undersand that.
BTW on my way to work this morning (on the bus

) I saw a 03 C4S with aerokit, RC was right, it is not the same rear wing than the Turbo at all, it is specific to the C4S. I think it looks a bit OTT.

Sorry but you know how it is in the morning on the bus, half asleep...

But I can assure you it is not the Turbo aerokit wing NOR the Carrera tequipment wing.
I think it looks a bit too much.
It had the front lip of the Turbo aerokit.

I also agree about no mods, if you're leasing a 996, but I plan on keeping mine for quite awhile...and everything but the headlight surround and the mesh grilles are factory parts. Besides I can't afford a C4S or Turbo Cab but I like the look!

For the first time on a Porsche 996.

AMG offers a 30% LSD system for retrofit on the E55, SL55 and other AMG models, ESP is modified but still there.

I think its a nice package, but 1963 seems like a lot for a special car. P only produced 911 of the Millennium coupes, about 350 of them went to North America. The silver will be a popular color, it will be interesting to see how it is priced.
