I concur Doctor. There's ways to use DIY touch up paint and make it look good. Wait until you get a few more blemishes or, God forbid, a big dented mess before you think about professional repair or replacement.
I would NEVER perform a DIY paint job on a reasonably priced car! If you find a decent paint shop and your scratch is presumably small, it should be hard to notice.
I saw an Exclusive-equipped 996 Turbo Cab at the dealer a couple of days, with a few scratches to be sorted out prior to reselling. I bet you wouldn't notice that it was painted over.
If you can stand the sight I would indeed wait a bit longer (depends on the place of the scratch) to paint it over, since there might occur some additional damage due to stone chips.
