993 4S

Having spent some more time in Europe last October and November covering quite a few miles in my 83 SC Targa (couldn't take the Green 71F Targa due to terrible weather) I decided to go for a 993 4S for winter conditions. I still can't be bothered with a modern car....for Europe cruising at least. 993 has been on the radar for quite some time but driving the SC with no ABS no Airbag etc in snowy conditions is just dangerous. Especially considering how bad the lights and wipers are by modern standards. So after extensively following the market over the past year and looking for the right car, initially wanted silver, girlfriend insists on black I was offered below car and directly went for it: Its a Oak Green 993 Carrera 4S:

I don’t see any attached pictures here mate. You will like the 993 4S though. Just note the headlights are still awful (although there is a Litronic upgrade apparently available). The seating position with the slightly offset wheel is still there. And the alarm will drain the battery in about two weeks if you don‘t use a trickle charger. Otherwise it is more or less bullet proof and just puts a smile on your face. Also size is brilliant for European small roads.

will install porsche classic pccm and upgrade speakers etc....and 17 inch with winter tires for the winter season.

will be my winter DD.....excited

That looks great. Love the seats as well. Using it for a winter driver, nice. I just keep mine with summers on and prefer to avoid the salt….

Looks fabulous. I can confirm that the alarm system will run down the battery in a couple weeks. A bit of a chore when that happens. My 993S has been reliable the past 10 years. Great fun. Best piece of advice I received is to drive it at least once a week.

I have never seen this seat-fabric pattern in a 993, is it a retrofit?

Maybe change to the original script on the engine lid??

We could organise an Oakgreen-Aircooled-meeting here on Rennteam, already three cars… indecision .

I have the original Raven in Chrome, the Raven S wasn’t available back then when I found these lamps. With fluted lens. They sort of retained the period look of the car. It was a huge difference in light output. Stock headlights was like driving with the iPhone’s flash light in comparison.

Unfortunately they don’t make a version for 993 yet. Just original 911 and 964.

Thanks for the tip. Once used to modern head lights it is difficult to drive at night with the lanterns.
