    Noo Why do I always miss the only things that happen in SA?!

    Why do I always miss the good stuff in SA?! All this happened during this month and I either didn't hear about it or I couldn't go cos I was busy!! bah!!!

    First it was a demonstration day with all the different models fully specc'd!

    Then it was a track day at Kyalami Raceway and they had a Carrera GT there!

    Too bad Mike. Can someone please tell me the name of the color of the 911 on the far right in the second picture? It's the bright blue one that's only half showing. Thanks.

    Get on the mailing list or email of one of the clubs over there.
    I joined PCA and have been to a few great events I wouldn't have known about.


    ps: Sunday I participated in the Car & Driver's "Editor for the day" event 6 miles from my home. We had 2 short autocross tracks to test the acceleration, handling and braking of the ES330, CTS, STS & BMW 530. Pretty cool to beat on these cars for free. I had one slight problem. You take turns driving and sitting in the back. After 4 runs sitting in the BACK I had to excuse myself to puke. LOL!! After that I only participated in the driving.

    haha stradale, i'm really thinking about it, but the membership is steep and it doesn't seem like there is a whole lot to do even if i joined...

    That is color code S8 Riviera Blue.

    I was watching the news on Sunday when they showed that... if i had know about it i would definately have come up to get a look at THAT car.
    There are now 2 CGT's in the country, right???

    just the 1 that i'm aware of but it's not road legal!! what a load of BS! that's why it can only be driven at tracks.

    LOL they only come in LHD look at the picture closely, you can see the steering wheel just popping over the the top of the dash, the LHD only goes same for the SLR, Enzo etc.

    I heard, but could be mistaken that there are 2 Carrera GT's in South Africa. One belongs to Toby Venter (Head of Porsche SA).

    The other one is on the showroom floor in Joburg now second hand with low mileage selling for R 6.5 million (Slightly more than $1 Million).

    yay so nice to see other fellow south africans on here! at least i'm not alone the owner of the enzo is the same owner as the CGT.
    i doubt it's Toby(he took me for a test drive in the demo 997S with PCCB) omg i felt so car sick! he drove the (insert word) out of the car!!
    i was at the joburg porsche center 3 times in 1 week was to drop off my 997 to get PSE retrofitted, then to fetch it
    now i'm going there again possibly tomorrow to fetch my new cayenne turbo, and i haven't seen any signs of a carrera GT there,
    plus it wouldn't help as i have stated you cannot get the car legalised due to it being LHD
    you are how ever allowed to drive it on a track

    Well ,well Mike, it seems where not alone anymore....i sense the force is strong in this one..... nice to have another SouthAfrican here....
    man, i though the guy would have learnt his lesson with the enzo.... so now he has 2 cars worthover R10 000 000 but he cannot drive either of them on the road....money must certainly be of no matter to him...

    About the radio station, which one in particular 'cause i know Deon Joubert. maybe some of you from sa knows who he is, and he has connections at Good Hope FM....

    I didn't even know cars were RHD in SA?

    It's my life long dream to move to SA Africa with my Porsche (which is LHD)
    The only thing that holds me back a little , this may sound stupid: is that I would feel so isolated from the world there, if you look at the map it really seems the end of the world
    I'll probaply forget all of that once I move there.

    South Africa really is the best place to live, especially cape town..(sorry mike)
    if you want beaches, we have some of the most beatiful in the world, mountains, theres Table Mountain, which is practically on the beach, forest? theres knysna.There really is something for all types over here.
    Most appealing to you guys, probably, there are some awesome roads to stretch your sports cars legs on.... imagine you in your Pcar, enjoying THAT sound, going through some twisties with the sea on your right and beatifull mountain ranges on you left...
