    Pics of my trip

Here are some pics of my trip around the San Francisco Peninsula. I'm thoroughly enjoying my 3 day old car.... and having the redwood forest, ocean and chaparral within minutes of home allows full enjoyment (within break-in limits ) of the amazing roads and this amazing car.

You Own A Beatifull Car...Thanks for the pics and enjoy it ... SAFELY

    Re: Pics of my trip

btw BCE, what's the word on your car?

    Re: Pics of my trip

PS.... Best colour for a Porsche by the way...
It may be more common but it suits the shape perfectly.
Porsches belong in that colour, its like Seeing a Ferrari thats not red or a Lambo thats not yellow, they look nice but its just not right..

Waiting for Turbo to come.... dont wanna get car now just for me to want to change it if a better one comes along.. My dad will KILL me.
    Wouldnt you do the same???
the only negative thing is the fact that i'll have to wait even longer...
    I Love The Carrera S but a Turbo's, well.... a Turbo

    Re: Pics of my trip

BCE: thanks. I know that most people consider the color to be "mundane" and "common" - but it speaks to me.... Also, the way the character of the paint changes with differing ambient light is remarkable.

    Re: Pics of my trip

    Couldnt agree more.

the turbo is going to be probably around R1,900,000 if not more, the carrera is a lovely car and i wouldn't recommend a turbo for a first car, you will definately hurt yourself very badly with it

    Thats putting it bluntly...

Heres the thing... My dads also planning on getting a new car.. seeing that he is a BMW fan he wants a new m5...
seeing that im the kniving porsche fan that i am i said why not get a 997 turbo for both of us to share??
I'll keep my golf and he'll keep his current car, which i dnt like - Toureg (?spelling?) but we'll both use the TT when its suits either of us.. That will also work out cheaper than getting a New M5 + a New/Used 997 cs. because money doesnt grow on trees, that should keep us both happy without spending to much.. Obviously he has the bigger "share", but then at least i can gap a Gallardo around killarney!!

I understand what your saying about me in a car with all that power though...But dnt you at least agree that its better to wait it out than to get a cs now???
ps: your input will be appreciated , Uncle Mike

    Re: Pics of my trip

it's called a touareg i love that car i don't know why you don't like it I have got the V10 TDi, which one do you have? i think the new m5 is a great car i saw one this weekend, IMO i think i'd rather get 2 seperate cars, but if money is the issue than wait for the turbo i suppose

    Re: Pics of my trip

definitely better to have two cars, I agree with Mike.
I'm also a fan of the Touareg, especially the V10 of course!
    Torque, torque, torque!!!

    Re: Pics of my trip

as i know bmw resale price is bad in south africa! anyway, nice picture mike! miss those nice and clear shopping mall in SA ,sure is more fun of driving in south africa

    Re: Pics of my trip

    VT88,

    Nice wheels.

Are you an electrophysiologist? (I know I've asked you this before . . . sorry to be a pest if you don't want to answer. I ask because I am one myself)

CONGRATS! on the new baby vtach88.
I like the picture in your gallery on the top row, first one on the left showing how great Artic is.
I have a similar car but a Cab.
Smart move to get the clear bra right away.

How do you like the thicker steering wheel ?

    Re: Pics of my trip

Thanks for the 5 minute vacation from my office vtach; nice pics. Oh, lose the dealer's advertising on your rear plate.

    Re: Pics of my trip

Silver bullet: No, I'm not an electrophysiologist. I am in the medical field, and work at full speed and thus have this nickname!

Stratdale: Thanks. The thiker steering wheel fits in my hands better than the standard wheel. It is a personal thing. My hands aren't that big (size large (8) gloves), but I really liked the beefy-ness of the wheel.
The clear bra is a must for german cars. I had a honda for 8 years (both in the snow, and in california) and there were no holes in the paint due to rocks. However, my BMW (no bra) is full of them (after just a few years). I would think they could figure out how to make more durable paint!

MMD: the dealer's plates were gone on day one (see all the other pictures!) - go Bruins!

That's one of the very first things I do when I get a new car!

vtach... silver really is a Porsche colour! CONGRATS

Agreed. I'm very happy with the wheel. I saw some pics in the PANORAMA magazine and the PCA Club 997 S has the thicker wheel standard.

    Re: Pics of my trip

Re: dealer's ad plates. yeah, that's what I thought, you guys are like me. Those ugly things get lost the second I'm out of sight of the dealers lot. Makes me wonder about people who leave them on, even the frames with ads on them after the perm plates get attached.

    vtach88,

I had the same question. Any suggestions re. where to order one? Are they easy self-installs? Of course I would need one for a 996TSCab, but I assume there's a firm that makes a bra for every model.

And lovely pics, vtach88, hopefully both of us will be obedient new Porsche owners, breaking them in gently. . . .

    Re: Pics of my trip

    Nice pics, vtach88!

    Re: Pics of my trip

Very nice car and photos Vtach88.

I read about you guys in the US risking fines by going without plates on the front, yet you leave those horrible (IMO) bumperettes on the rear. Whats the story??

    Re: Pics of my trip

Clear bra: Sam at Premier (either a sponsor here or at Rennlist, I forget) was amazing with his team of installers. It took them 3 1/2 hours to install the covers for the 1/2 hood, front bumper, mirrors, and front fenders. Cost me $790 and they came to my home. They will do custom jobs as well, but I was happy with the basic. It is barely visible, and I feel much more confident while driving. Between the small rocks and bugs (esp. bees!) I knew the front fascia would take a beating! Now clean up is very easy.
