Well, seems that it isn't the front "sway bar/ antiroll bar/ stabiliser bar " bushings after all. They removed the undertrays, went for a test drive and the creaking was gone. Put it back together and it creaks. So they inadvertently fixed it the first time as they had to remove the undertray to get to the sway bar. They have attempted to fit the undertrays more carefully, but though reduced, there is still some creaking, and I can see this being an ongoing problem. Is mine the only 997 that does this?

Mine is creaking at 200 miles. After sitting overnight it creaks loudly for first 15 to 20 minutes of driving anytime the body flexes. Creaking stops for the most part after initial drive. Will be taking car in as soon as an appointment is available.

My car creaked when from 100-750 miles when cold over bumps and when turning. It seemed to be coming from the front of the car. I brought the car in and they lubricated the front sway bar bushings. They car continued to creak for a day or two, but now has completely stopped. It's been a week or two. The weather is warmer, though.

Sorry, been away then v busy on return. Interesting to hear about your creaking gone after the bumper refitted. Since my last post the dealer has demonstrated the creak to the tech manager at P Distributor. They rang yesterday having had a TSB this week about creaking from tops of the front springs. Apparently the springs have been machined to a point and these have worn thru the rubber mounts thus causing the creaking. They don't think this is the cause of my problem though because the creaks wouldn't have gone away when the undertrays were removed if it had been the springs. However P require them to ensure this is not the problem before proceeding any further!! So it's booked in for Friday next week for this......
rh997 : Tried it on sport mode, but mine creaks just the same
JohnA: Lucky you!! BTW I've stalled my car twice now, both times in reverse, going slightly uphill!!
jlr: Could be temperature related, as mine started as the weather's got colder, It's loudest when cold, but never goes completely. Could be coincidence too.
The (minor) saga continues....

Problem diagnosed. My car has the problem with the front springs...... machined to a point, and thus worn thru the rubber mount (see above). They need to order the new mounts and springs from Germany, shipping takes 2 weeks, then a day to fit. In the meantime they've turned the rubber mount to a different position, ie not worn thru, and the creaking's gone completely.

My car has a Creaking front...it has 5800Km, and the creaking is hard expetially at the mourning, when probably the kinematics are cold...next week I'll go to dealer trying to fix it...they've already fixed the same rear creaking greasing the bushings at 2000Km...I hope will be the same problem...

No, don't have the TSB number, and it's Friday night here, so I won't be able to ring the dealer till Monday. My creaking is definitely FIXED!!, not even a squeak since they adjusted the rubber mount. The car is so quiet... it was squeaking over bumps too. I'll post the TSB number on MOnday if I can get it from the dealer

Rang the dealer today, Service Manager not there when I rang. Apparently wasn't a TSB they got, but an answer by email from Germany, receptionist not sure exactky who from. She emailed me an extract from their email as follows

"997 with PASM chassis exhibiting a "Spring - binding or grinding" type noise from the front suspension when slowly Turing/slowly moving up a drive way,for instance.Further inspection of the front spring assembly may reveal the top - most coil rubbing through the rubber insulation block and contacting the metal top support .PAG advises replacement of springs."
