Thanks for the kind comments everyone .
@Lars997 - that's exactly how id describe the SV's looks - just like a spaceship has landed on earth

@RC is it possible to change to this without re-registering and messing up all the postings history?
You mean changing your user name but keeping all the old posts for the new user name? Should be possible. Just send me a PM and I will try to do my best.

ISUK:Enmanuel:..... @Iain : we need to talk about your new avatar, update us on that situation
It's just an outdated, old tech Ferrari I bought a while back
While I immensely appreciate your humbleness, not even you could downplay an F50. I remember he purchase but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see more of how that beauty is doing these days.

Now I guess I have two reasons to visit the UK...you and Futch. And of course visiting the godparents of my kids, they live in the UK as well.

The F50 is very rare in comparison to the F40 with 349 examples built versus over 1200 for the earlier car. I originally was not a fan of the styling but have to confess that was based largely upon photo's of the car as opposed to actual experience of the design in person. I believe the styling is starting to mature gracefully now and the once comically huge rear wing is now something of an era defining styling signature as it's like will never be seen again with modern active aero changing things completely. When you stand next to the car it has a presence that is unrivalled and it looks more like a refugee from Le Mans than a road legal super car. There are absolutely no frills of any kind on it with it's sole purpose being focused on speed and driver involvement. It has no radio, manual wind up windows, column stalks that look like they have come out of a Fiat Ritmo/Lancia Delta, air vents from a series one Alfa 33, a fairly cramped cabin etc but absolutely none of this matters when you fire up that V12.
It was a bit misunderstood when new as it didn't blitz the performance of it's older sibling the F40 but offered a totally different experience to that car in the way it's power is delivered and the way the layout mimics an F1 car with the engine and gearbox providing structural support for the rear axle and suspension. Prices have risen quite a lot in the last 18 months or so with cars here in the UK now being around £1.2 - 1.3m and US examples selling for up to $2.5m. They are still undervalued compared to the F40 and later Enzo (rarity alone compared to those two should make them more valuable) but will surely continue to rise as more collectors look to complete the full set of Ferrari supercars - 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo and LF.
It holds it's own against the LF when sat side by side. Here is mine - sadly the LF belongs to someone else

shows the best my level of attention. Sorry for messing up your name! Happy you found something new !
I think it's 21 years before you can import a European market car to the US under the EPA rules. The US cars have a few differences to the Euro models and only 55 US models were delivered hence why prices there are strong. Once the Euro cars are able to be imported I'd expect prices on them to rise accordingly.
I adore the F50 ISUK, didn't know you had one. Few (if any) cars sound better in my opinion.
These are incredible:

Enmanuel:Thanks for the update and insights Iain. I've always loved the F50 exactly because of how "hot wheels" it is, I mean the timing of this car did coincide to when I was buying hot wheels like crazy.
Saw a F40 a week or so ago...what a street presence, love this car. Never sat or drove in a F50 though...

Haven't had the chance with the F50 either, actually I don't think I've even seen one in person. I did sit on an F40 once, it was glorious.
When I drove my GT4 last year at Spa, this guy was on the track with me (some kind of real F40 Spider Le Mans racing version) - sounded phenomenal! I originally thought it was an F50 (but zoomed in on the fender decal below to see F40 LM)...

I guess that F40 is this thing:

Can't imagine chopping the roof was good for the rigidity of it.
