    Trackday hero!!!!!!

Ok anyone who has not taken their porsche on a track, cancel tomorrow and get your fekin sports car on a track and get it doing exactly what it was made to do!!!

Since picking up my boxster 3 months ago Ive fallen in love, great car that has done everthing I want. The only problem has been getting enough time to take it out for a decent spin outside of London on the twisties.

Today I took my baby for its first trackday, and what a day. Getting a chance to push the car that little further safe in the knowledge that you are not going to hit a kerb or some oncoming traffic.

The event was at Bedford autodrome, a large converted airlfield with lots of run off area. In fact the same place that ente broke here track day cherry if im not mistaken.

I dont consider myself a master driver but I'm happy to say the little boxster was more than capable of holding it own... To be fair the Ariel Atoms and radicals had me licked but I was able to keep up a good pace and give the 911's a run for their money.

The car was much easier to drive at the limit than expected and I was able to learn a hell of a lot today. Only one minor spin, a 180 whilst coming out of a hairpin (My own fault as I'd been trying to keep up with a GT2!!!!).

A fekin great day and I can wait for the next! If you have not done one, get it booked now or else I'm coming looking for ya!!!!!!!!

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

    Go boxster go!!!!!!!!!

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

    Yeeeee Haaaaaaa!!!!!!!

What a fekin a car!!! I love my baby!!!!!!

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

Are you a Driving God too, then?

I must put a Track Day on my list of things to do, for sure. Sounds like you had a lot of fun.

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

To be honest, I walked away from each session today like I was Ayrton Senna!!! Think thats just a bloke thing!

I was probably pants but felt like I was da man!!!!

You should definatly do it, good fun and my tyres and brakes are still fine!!!!

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

(I'd be grinning my face off too! )

I think I should. I'm getting near the 2000 Mile mark, and my spirited driving on the erratically surfaced roads of Dorset are starting to make the rear lose traction very slightly on occasion. My own fault - being a little eager with the throttle going round roundabouts. Oops! Need to find and play with the limits on the track really.

I have to say that I did think that the PASM would control the body better in 'normal' mode when encoutering mid-corner undulations. It doesn't seem to be able to stiffen up quick enough. Back end goes a little wobbly. Sport mode is the way to go. Maybe it's just me. Anyone else find that?

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

Looks like a fun way to spend an afternoon Rich, and it's great to see the car on the track. Glad you ahda good time.

Rich singing when driving HIS BABY on the track !!
    THANKS Rich for sharing

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

Are you saying that Rich is Top Gear's Stig in disguise?

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

Sounds great fun, Rich. I WILL do it one day.

How's about a Rennteam track day meet? Bedford?, Bruntingthorpe?, Elvington? (in Yorkshire, for Dreamcar!)

Eh up and by gum lad I'm oop for that

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

Rich those are some great pics. Looks like you had an awesome time.

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

Good to hear you had fun.. how could it be otherwise
How did you find the instruction?

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

A rennteam UK track meet would be a fine thing indeed and I'd really recommend Bedford as a good starter, lots of run of area and a huge track!

The instruction on the day was good although to be honest was a bit brief (Well I think it was, could have been that it lasted ages but everything was flashing by so quick!!!!).

There was actually another boxster (987s Black buggar!) for the first half of the day. Was good to chat to him about his experience, he'd only had his for 9 weeks but already managed 8000 miles and 2 track days! Was good to hear he was also on the original tyres and brakes!!! Cool

Well I'm definatly doing another, probably around september time. Ideally want to get somewhere with less cars on the dar, about 80 cars on Sat.

    Re: Trackday hero!!!!!!

    Wow, great pics, thanks.
There's nothing better than seeing a Porsche in its natural environment, doing what it does best.
    Must be really satisfying.
