Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Parked up in Rosedale on the Noth York Moors. The car was still recognisably arctic silver.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Our second week we stayed in Askrigg in the Yorkshire Dales. This is the road between Askrigg and Muker.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Magnificent scenery, shared only with the sheep. Same road looking 'tother way.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

That looks like a lot of fun dream...

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

    Buttertubs Pass.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

By the time we met up with Mr Boothy, (thanks again!) arctic silver had become almost seal grey. Weather not good for our second week, but the friendly natives, food, and Theakston's most excellent best bitter more than made up for it.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

GREAT pictures Dreamcar, THANKS for sharing !!

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Good to have you back on-line. Looks like you had a smashing time. Nothing Old and Peculier?

Thanks for that. Nice to be back. Yes we supped a few Old Peculier and even bought an Old Peculier anti-clockwise clock from Theakstons Brewery. Personally I prefer their Best Bitter. On the subject of Things Peculier one of Black Sheep's beers is known as Riggwelter. But do you know what Riggwelter is? Other than a beer?

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

    Nice pics!!!!!

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

    Tsh. PECulier. Slap!

Isn't Riggwelter somthing to do with an incapacitated sheep?

    Your close. Actually :-

"Riggwelter: from the Old Norse: rigg-back and velte - to overturn. When a sheep is on its back and cannot get up without help, local Yorkshire dialect says it is rigged or riggwelted".

Much like me after a few too many in the Kings Arms in Askrigg.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Aaah! That'd explain the label then.
And Speckled Hen's got nothing to do with poultry...

So you didn't want to stick with the Seal Grey, and not wash then? Popular colour you know....

Hence the phrase when referring to the lower orders as "The Great Unwashed".

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Hey, Mine must be Slate Grey by now. Must wash this weekend.

Just off outside to return mine to Arctic Silver. Must get some Zymol when I can find out where to get it.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

    Hey Tim.
Looks absolutely awesome - those roads!
I dont like the way you have soiled my rims...but I figure by the time I get my Danish butt to Old Blighty they will be worn down to a 12".
When was that next Rennteam meet?

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Ente is organising a Sussex meet end July / early August and I am going to arrange a September one in the New Forest based on a visit to the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu. Lunch venue and a decent driving excursion next to sort out!
We would of course be pleased to see you.

Sorry about your wheels, I have now cleaned them for you. I've just rushed out and taken a picture so you can be assured I am looking after them. I have also measured them and they appear to stilll be 19" in diameter, so wear is negligible at the moment.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Just closed in on those rims. Look!

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

By the way, I just bought a Sticky pod camera holder for the car.
A contraption with an aluminum plate, a camera screw and 4 suction cups.
Made to stick anywhere on your car, so you can record stuff while driving.
    Perdy kewl.
    Check out www.stickypod.com.
Just made my first test with it...watch out Spielberg!

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Drat, I thought I had brushed that out using Adobe Photoshop. Just can't get on with I.T.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Come on over Dr. Phil. I think we'll run the August meet on Aug 7.

The pictures are great Dreamcar, thanks. Affirms our plans to make it up north one day for more exploring.

That's great. August 7th a definite for us.

"Up North" is great if you don't mind playing Yorkshire roulette with the weather.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Lovely pics!!! Love Artic - looks great!

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

    Hi Tim,
    Glad you got back OK.
Just had 2 days in Yorkshire, and the weather has been fabulous.
Nice pics. bet you enjoyed Buttertubs Pass!

Thanks for that. Car back, returned to arctic silver and all tucked up. The Focus seemed like a tank after 2 weeks driving the Boxster.
I would have enjoyed the Buttertuns more if I didn't have a nervous wife alongside me. Back up to close to your neck of the woods on Monday for a few days. Birkenhead, and NOT in the Boxster!

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Trouble is, I've come back to find out that I won't have a job by mid August. Such is life

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Argh . Well let's hope the job market is really picking up here in the UK.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Thanks! Problem is my background is ship repair and this industry is as dead as a dinosaur here in the UK. My employer is the largest ship repair group in the UK - and they have now closed three of their five shipyards in the last year.

Re: Great roads, people and beer. "Oop North lad"

Bad news Dreamcar, sorry to hear it.

    Hope you find something soon.
