    F60 Pic!

No, it's not. Naturally, it will arrive around 2007 (60th anniversary) and will boast advanced active suspension and aerodynamics. It might get even more power than stated here, 900bhp to be more exact, because of the veyron and the gas turbine powered 1300bhp MF1.Ferrari has recently patented an all-new 4WD system that is suitable for high-end enzo-like supercars due to its small dimensions and weight and with 900bhp on tap it surely comes into question.

    Re: F60 Pic!

4WD Ferrari! I wonder what the Ferrari purists would say about that.

Btw, the pic above is the Aurea study concept, not the F60..

    Re: F60 Pic!

yes i know shin then what is the enzo, just some more than normally priced limited edition ferrari like the CS?

    Re: F60 Pic!

That looks a lot like the design study an Italian university made, so I don't buy into it really. Especially since the FXX is just being released.

Pure speculation on my part, but you know how smaller publications tend to print anything.

    Re: F60 Pic!

the FXX could be a test bed for new innovations to be utilised in the F60.

What did Lambo deadheads say when Audi incorperated 4WD for Murcie and Gallardo? What do Porschephiles say about the Cayenne and the Panerama?

    Re: F60 Pic!

    Holy Toledo!
    Looks mean!

Hope it will be bought by people who can actually tame and drive the monster so we can minimize the number of accidents related to these supercars.

    Re: F60 Pic!

Eh? Wasn't the Diablo has a 4WD version, and that was before Audi?
As for Porsche prosituting its brand by an SUV and now a 4-door, it is now more of the same level as BMW than Ferrari/Lamborghini. At least any GT/SUV from Lamborghini will likely to retain the number of doors (two!).

Yes, the Diablo VT was AWD. But, what are the "purist" saying when Lambo's are engineered by Audi, now? What are the "purist" saying when the Audi parts bin is being raided by the Gallardo.

How many parts will be shared by Lambo's future GT/SUV with Audi/VW? What will the "purist" say?

    Re: F60 Pic!

we have come to a point where staying "purist" doesn't pay the bills, it's much cheaper to mix and match parts from other cars then to spend the additional money to make something totally new. guess the manufacturers are adopting "don't fix what not broken" more often now days

    Re: Ferrari rumours

i bought this "automobil test" magazine yesterday. here are the rumours from the ferrari article:

    - like mv said, the F60 will come in 2007 to celebrate ferraris 60th anniversary. power probably >900 HP, vmax >380 km/h.

    - FXX is experimental vehicle for the F60, also to see how "normal" customers can cope with such an overpowered vehicle. ferrari is "using" the 20 FXX buyers to make it driveable

    - "project california"/"dino" (model below F430 based on axed maser coupé/spyder) not yet decided upon, but very likely -- raising overall production from 4000+ to 8000+ cars per year.

    - nothing new really about the 575MM successor "600 imola". it's coming soon.

    - it's said that a syndicate around michael schumacher and luca di montezemolo might buy ferrari.

i especially like the last rumour

    Re: F60 Pic!

What's with you? I was the one who was wondering 'what the purists would have to say' in the first place, did you read my post? So why ask me the question I asked? Don't you realize that we're asking from the same 'side'?

    Re: F60 Pic!

I remember ferrari saying that the ENZO was just a tribute to the founder--- a car so good that it had to be named for its founder. They NEVER said it was an evolution of the F series... people assumed that. I couldn't see them making random cars and then skipping the F60 name and then in like 2015 coming out with the f70- that would make no sense.

    Re: F60 Pic!

That is a very old drawing from a design university in Italy. It has been around the internet for a couple of years.

BTW I would love to see Montezemolo, Todt and Schumacher take over the company.

What the "purist" might say is a lame question. What is a "purist" in the first place? You asked the question and I threw back to you, but, you have no answer. That's all.

I don't know what side you're referring to, but, I highly doubt we're on that same side.

    Re: F60 Pic!

Well, I think a Porsche purist would be one who likes to keep the next generation 911s rear-engined, a Lamborghini purist would be one who liked to keep the cab-forward, wedge shape and angular designs of future Lambos, and a Ferrari purist would be one who likes to keep Ferraris not going the 4WD route their main competitor Lambo does.

Of course, it's just my humble opinion.

    >You asked the question and I threw back to you, but, you have no answer. That's all.

I asked the question because I don't know the answer. Isn't that what a person who does not the answer to a question does? Ask a question?

I'm not looking for trouble. I just made a comment, that's all.

    Re: F60 Pic!

hey i found these (codenamed fxx), maybe its the new f60 or maybe its the new MC12 competitor.

New FXX to turn client-collectors into genuine Ferrari Test Drivers

Maranello, 15th June - Ferrari has developed a truly innovative technical collaboration programme around the FXX prototype aimed at its most dedicated and passionate Clients.
The FXX is the most advanced GT ever created at Maranello and its mission is to involve Ferrari's most valued Clients as genuine Prancing Horse Test Drivers in their own right. The wealth of data and experience gathered in the course of this very special programme will be exceptionally important.
In fact, the feedback from these highly skilled, non-professional Client Test Drivers will be compared and supplemented with suggestions from Michael Schumacher, Rubens Barrichello and Ferrari's professional in-house Test Drivers.

Every Client who signs up for the FXX project by purchasing one of the estimated 20 or so cars being built, will actually be joining Team Ferrari, and will have his driving experiences at the wheel of this new car monitored directly by the Prancing Horse's technicians and specialists.

The FXX is the fruit of Ferrari's know-how in building special limited-series sports cars combined with, of course, its racing experience. It will provide the basic framework on which the specifics of future extreme models will be worked out. The exceptionally powerful FXX delivers absolutely blistering performance on all fronts.

The FXX has not been homologated for road use and thus will not be a competition model. It will be used exclusively on the track as part of a specific ongoing research and development programme featuring this first ever group of Client Test Drivers.

The FXX is powered by an imposing 6,262 cc V12 engine that can punch out over 800 hp at 8,500 rpm. Its gearbox is the result of the transfer of F1 strategies, delivering gear change times of under 100 ms. This is almost as fast as the F1 single-seaters, themselves the absolute pinnacle of current technological achievement.

The FXX's aerodynamic design is particularly innovative too as it has resulted in a shape that produces 40% higher downforce than ever achieved before. It is also possible to adjust the FXX's mobile spoiler configuration to suit the specific circuit.

Ferrari's partnership with Bridgestone has resulted in the development of a specific 19" slick tyre for this particular model. Likewise Brembo has created a special brake cooling and pad system for the FXX's extra large Composite Ceramic Material disc brakes.

The Client Test Drivers will also be able to share their unique track experience with a passenger - in fact a second seat is available.

What really sets the FXX apart, however, is the sophisticated telemetry system which will monitor and give feedback on 39 different vehicle dynamics parameters in real time. The system is also able to record other data as demanded by specific circumstances.

The information gathered will then be analysed by the Ferrari technicians working on the programme and discussed with the individual Client Drivers to ensure that the car is kept constantly updated.

The FXX package also includes participation in a series of track events to be organised by Ferrari on various international-level circuits over the coming two years. On these occasions, an official team of technicians will be on hand to provide any assistance and support required by the Client Test Driver.

In addition to these truly unique official events, Clients will also be able to take their cars out on the track independently during private sessions. Clients wishing to leave their car at Maranello will be glad to know that the vehicles will be transported directly by Ferrari to the various European circuits for the scheduled events.

Given the car's exceptional performance and the unique nature of the package, delivery of each FXX will also include an ad hoc driving course. The instructors will, of course, be professional drivers and the courses will take place at the Fiorano Circuit where Ferrari does its most important F1 single-seaters testing.

After the seat and the pedals have been individually tailored to each driver, there will be a traditional "shakedown" followed by a training session dedicated to test driving methodologies.

After a careful client order selection process, the first FXXs will be delivered by the end of this year. The initial testing of the definitive car is currently taking place at Fiorano. The FXX and the relative package cost a total of 1.5 million euro (excluding taxes) and applications to join the programme are being evaluated by a special in-house committee

i hope ferrari is able to put more than 1000 bhp in the car, as a rival for the bugati veyron.

I dont really see any new tech involved with the FXX...its still a RWD mid engined car. It uses a V12, it has no active suspension, no sort of wild new fuel management (then again i suppose its possible that ferrari isnt telling is some thigns...but why on a 'consumer car' hide things like that..."

i think the best theory floating around here is that ferrari wants to make a 800+ horsepower car that a normal man can drive. Id imagine the adjustable downforce is to see exactly how much downforce needs to be dialed in so that a customer could controll it.

about the whole "what would the purists want"...while i personally do think that RWD is definently very "ferrari" and certainly alot of fun! hasnt ferrari always been about the maximum ammount of performance possible...
