PS if only your judgement on F1 drivers would be as good as your photographic skills

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

    Love em.
You've got the trick down w/ the front wheel turned
Car look awesome. I was bouncing the idea around while looking in a Porsche book this weekend about Basalt. I LOVE gloss black but don't want to go back to dealing with that color again for an everyday car. (plus my suv.'s are black)I thought Artic would be a lot easier than black but can't get over how easy it is to keep looking clean and detailed. I'm probably going to stay w/ the Artic for the 997TT Cab but Basalt would probably be my second choice tied with GT-Silver.

How do you find Basalt to keep up ? With gloss black I always felt the car needed a wax/glaze after 2-3 hand washings. The paint wouldn't look deep and fine scratch free after you washed it a few times. So far I have only waxed my Artic once since picking the car up over a month ago and washing it 5 times. It is so easy.

Did you ever have gloss black / I'd imagine the Basalt is less maintainence. Yes ? No ?

As always the pictures are beautiful. The car, the back drop, the weather. Maaaa !!

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

The angle on the second pic is the best

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

Thank guys, glad you liked them

Basalt is not that bad... for a black color that is. Then again it hasn't rained much, but the metallic really helps to keep it from loosing its shine quickly and looking dull as the regualr balck tends to do. Still its no easy color but no worse than my previous Ocean Blue 996. And better than my previous E36-M3 mettalic black but I think its becuase the paint job/quality on the 997 is much better than on the older M3.
It just looks so good in Basalt that its worth it.

And here is a photoshop job

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

    Thanks Carlos!
I'm loving the ease of up-keep with the Artic but I'll always have this love for black Porsche's.
I guess the basalt gives you the better of both worlds. Easier to keep than Black but still the darkest color next to Black.
    COOL PHOTOSHOP !

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

It's such a great looking car you've got there.

The first pics you posted is the best angle IMO. Thanks so much Carlos

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

I agree -- I got the solid black over the basalt on the 987S though ... it looked like a truer black to me...I don't even want to think about how many times I'll have to clean it a week, but whatever :-D

I have basalt for 3 months now and let the car have a protech cure (kind of teflonlayer that becomes pretty hard and fills up the paint to become a more even surface.garantied for 5 years on a new car)
You can see on the pic that it reflects enormously, and the colour became "deeper".
On the pic the car has got a little shower over it and I even didn't had to dry it.

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

Black cars are a PITA... but

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

Does anyone besides me think that the sports exhaust tips look askew. The first impression I get, from the rear view pictures is that they were not installed straight. I think a symetrical design with everything on the same plain would be much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I will be ordering the PSE with mine and wonder how difficult it would be to change the tips to a straight version.

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

@beltar: thanks man, but it doesn't seem like we have the dealer here

@flap: I think i like it the way it is, it's different, not everything has to be symmetrical to look good

    I think they look rude..

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

Carlos, your car looks awesome. That model and color is about the only car that could tempt me out of my 993TT.

    Enjoy.

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

john pics of your 993tt pls!! a true classic!

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

    Indeed

BTW, here is a better photoshop of what I was trying to achieve with the last one

    Re: Black 997S beauty shots

Now that is one cool touch up!
At a very high level, what did you do to achieve the effect in photoshop? Looks like a bit more work than simply applying a few filters.
    Thanks
