I think the 992.2 GT3 might be closer to the end of ICE if you are thinking long term hold? Nice problem to have tho :-)

Generally, how many track days are you guys getting on your Cup 2s?

    Re: 992 GT3

    Wonderbar:

Generally, how many track days are you guys getting on your Cup 2s?

I have the Goodyears now (originally had Pirelli, then Cup2, and now Goodyears).  I would say 6 days or so (Cups didn’t last as long, since they have softer compound on outer shoulder.  Maybe 4-5 days on Cups).  Btw, I usually do fairly short days…

    Re: 992 GT3

Love teh phots Grant. Silver suits that car! I get 4-5 days from Cup2s. 5 days would be an absolute max. Often I change them after 4. They are heat cycled before the end of day 3. I do around 60-70 laps a day. 5-6 x 15-20 min sessions. From many years of using the Cup2 on three gens of GT3 and collecting AIM data Ive come to conclusion they fall off after 14-18 heat cycles. My observations on track with guys I know who had the car delivered on the Goodyears is those tyres last longer but are fractionally slower. The lap time delta is so small I think it warrants the longer life/lower cost. Cup2 for 992 GT3 getting expensive in our market now. Around 2000 USD a set so 4-500 USD a day. Just my opinions from personal experience.

Mark runs hard so these numbers are a good target!

    Mark,

cup2s are 2000 usd here too so be happy

How are you liking the 992 vs our 991s?

    Re: 992 GT3

Gidday Watt. Hope you are mending well. Say hi to Wendy from us.

Yes. I see right now for many things including wheels and tyres there is price parity for the first time in history between our market, the USA, Europe and UK. Of course this will be short lived and likely a function of FX timing and the ADMs still being charged in your markets for cars etc.

The 992 is only an incremental step up from the 991.2. I find my PB times have dropped by a few tenth but I am no able to hit prior PBs in the 991 gen cars with far more consistency and driving less "on the edge". The primary advantage on the track is the new front end. It means understeer is not an issue even when the front tyres and 2-3 days old. On the road this is less obvious.

I dont mind the new tech in the dash, its handy having FAL working with google maps favourite locations and the ability to change the volume of the speakers by the steering wheel. There are a few other benefits too.

The biggest benefit of course is that its another go on the GT3 train. New car now nearing 2 years old with warranty having completed 17 track days and 15,000km including 2 x South Island Tours. By three years it will be 25+ track days and 30k km and ten rinse and repeat, all with fairly manageable depreciation, low hassle ownership and maintenance and factory backup even when the car is used for its intended purpose.

The GT3 is a tool car and fit for purpose. Even with the rising prices it remains one of the few cars you can do this with and maintain factory warranty.

What do I miss form 991 gen cars? The folding bucket seats for sure. I think the feel of quality in the cabins was better but I was also getting a bit bored with the genericness as I had 4x 911/Cayman over 8-9 years that all looked identical inside.

If the GT3 wasnt simply a car for the track I would have kept the 991.2 and felt I was misisng nothing much. It really is just small steps in terms of performance and handling benefits between generations for this model.

Just the free "rental car" black plastic Smiley  It's actually pretty nice - a mixture of black leather and Racetex (alcantara) in most places but plastic dash and door uppers.

It wasn't easy to spec one of these for under $175k (and impossible now), but I got most everything I wanted.  Full leather is expensive and getting a color other than Black is very expensive.

Since the sides of the front bumper are camouflaged, it makes me wonder if there will be active aero flaps added like in the new RS.  That would also explain why the rear wing is in minimum downforce setting (since the front aero is not being used either).

    Re: 992 GT3

Typically, each facelifted GT3 aims to equal or surpass the performance of the pre-facelifted GT3 RS. Andreas Preuninger mentioned this in one of Chris Harris' videos as well. However, this time I have my doubts because the 992.2 GT3 doesn't share any aerodynamic components with the 992.1 GT3 RS from the looks of it.

    Re: 992 GT3

Does anyone know when the 992.2 will be officially announced? I have been offered a September build slot for a 992 GTS but I’m a bit concerned that the 992.2 will be shown around the same time at the IAA motor show.

    Re: 992 GT3

Very satisfied with my 992 GTS. Quicker, stiffer and louder than my prior C4 S.  But in the US at least, the GTS models come in about a year after the initial Carrera models, then of course you have to wait for production. You’re probably looking at at least a year and a half before the new 992.2 GTS model is in your hands. Could be wrong, but that’s my guess.

    Re: 992 GT3

Ive been told to expect 992.2 GT3 to be announced Q1 2024 with production Q2 and first deliveries to NZ mid Q3 2024. This was the pattern for the 992.1 GT3 in our market....
