haha the blinkers were changed to white ones after the shoot, didn't arrive in time.

And this is the one and only GT4RS, never one before and won't have another one after.

Sweet spot for hp for street cars is 500hp, this car has that. also a tight, nimble little mid-engine chassis to go with it.

Intakes inside the cabin, no need to say more.

You've been inside my McLaren, remember that feeling? The GT4RS delivered more of that.

Nice! Yeah, I think you struck absolute gold, both with the model itself and with your spec. When I was in Vancouver I drove a friends Cayman up the road along the fjord to a mountain pass and back, and I can imagine driving the 4RS there must be absolutely fantastic.

Did you get your replacement hood yet btw?

Hahahahaha. I have had my fair share of V12s, both Ferraris' and Aston's. Got my V10 fix from Lamborghini. V8s was dime a dozen, both cross plane and flat plane ones. 6s I have had plenty of flats and Vs. a number of 4 bangers too and haven't had a 3 cylinder yet however.

But everything mentioned was only about the exhaust note. it was what we hear inside the car. The GT4RS flipped the script and provided intake noise. That's really something new.

I still enjoy excellent exhaust sounds, but intake sound is a whole new thing.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

You are seriously making me think about trying to get one of these ‚4RS‘s…. I did love the size of my old 4 and it felt a decent size smaller to drive than the GT3. Clearly the engine experience though has been materially improved in GT4 > GT3, but combining the best of the 3 and the 4 into the 4RS just seems so right. This would though be a toy to keep for the ages I assume not a fleeting pleasure??

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

You take the 992 GT3, a car most agreed is a very very very good car, make it smaller and more nimble, while keeping the same engine but improved the sound and you get a GT4RS.

Me gushing about the GT4RS is not a recent thing. It's basically been 5 years since I first saw the prototype and I fell in love with it right there and has been talking about it non stop since. It is the perfect formula from Porsche.

And they indeed produced the perfect driver's car.

Take away the bias about manual vs PDK, 911 vs its little brother, the GT4RS is still the best on merits.

GT4RS is the last of its kinds, there won't be another one like it. Not unlike the 993s, last of the air-cooled.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

Th GT4 RS is not a "better" car in any respect over a 992 GT3; it is just different emphasizing different characteristics. However, without earplugs, it is a prescription for quick noise fatigue and potential hearing damage. On the streets does one want to wear earplugs? On the track does one want to live in the shadow of a GT3? The GT4 RS handling characteristics, while fun to explore and exploit, again become frustrating as the GT3 pulls off into the distance. (YMMV)

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

On track, all depends on the driver.

If I am in my GT4RS, don't think I will encounter many that will pull away from me in a 992 GT3, most will likely be behind me......

If I am in the 992 GT3, there are quite a few that I know that can pull away in a GT4RS...........

Same driver, then most will be quicker in the 992 GT3, it is literally fool proof to go fast. But the same driver can't drive 2 cars at the same time.

The GT4RS is an RS, period. GT3 is missing the RS part, it will always lives under the shadow of the GT3RS.

As for the 'noise', you haven't been inside one yet have you? Listen to the owners here, the car can be quiet if one wants it to be and noisy as fuck if one wants it that way too. You own foot controls the noise. And it's not about how high the rpm is, it's how aggressive the throttle is being used that controls the noise.

GT3? Already got rid of mine a while ago to make room for the better car, the GT4RS.

Literally I spent about 3 weeks with it and that's it. Can't stand the fat pig. My friend has it now but he also had it parked in his garage and haven't touch it after driving it a couple times. Think he might sell it also as he was also disappointed and is looking for a 991.1 instead.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

I have done 5000 km in my GT4RS. City, suburban areas, country roads, mountain passes, highways in Switzerland, Italy ,Germany , tracks ( N'Ring and Monza)

There is truth in both Whoopsy's and cnc's comments.

GT4RS can be driven quietly on open roads if you stay under 140km/h and blend into crushing mode. As Whoopsy says, it is your throttle input that determines how much sound you get in the cabin. You can easily keep it low.

I am faster on track with a  991 GT3RS then with the 4RS and I can't keep up with other's driving properly their 992 GT3. They do pull away. 4RS has less grip around corners . Ideally this car would need larger tire.

I admit not having much experience with mid engined cars on track, as opposed to the 911 layout that I have been tracking for the last 15 years and that I understand fully how it works, reacts etc...

That said, someone who knows how to drive properly the mid engined platform will be as fast as the good 992 GT3 drivers and faster then all the other non pro ones. I have seen it with my own eyes.

On public roads 4RS is much more engaging, alive , fun and emotional then GT3 which becomes boring as it has to be driven way over speed limits to give sensations. Size plays also it's role in this case.

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

    Whoopsy:

    Slight update.

It would seems Porsche might have a quality control problem for the carbon hood.

Along 3 of the 4 sides of the hood, there are noticeable 'bubble' and pitting. Not sure how the delivery dealer failed to caught it, but my trusted foreman saw it and already filed a warranty claim with Porsche.

It would seems to be coming from the hood was clear coated before the resin has fully cured, thus some bubbles where trapped.

And yes I asked, I would be able to keep the defective hood, Porsche wants it back.

My clear foil will have to wait until the replacement hood arrives. Or I can foil the car first without doing the hood.

Thanks to that posting, we were very attentive when picking up my friend's GT4RS at Porsche Werksabholung last Friday. We discovered some fingerprints under the clear coating of the carbon hood at the right edge which the technician of Porsche was not able to rectify on the spot for obvious reasons. My friend was very grateful to have that info and will get a new hood.

Well my dealership is offering up this 4RS to me.  Would trade the 992 GT3 in for it.  Seems like a tempting trade based on what you all are saying...

If they are giving you good money for the GT3........

992.2 GT3 is round the corner, and there should be another generation of GT3s coming before the end.

    There aren't another GT4RS coming.

As you are not tracking, if I am not mistaking, then it would be a great change.

As others said, there will be other GT3's but not another GT4 RS ( expect the spyder )

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

Lexs4 doesn’t appear to keep cars very long. Like many of us, he looks to get into the next generation of performance cars. Though I agree the GT4RS as an investment is worth keeping, the GT3 ticks all the boxes for performance and drivability. Of course cost is something he needs to consider. If I had to guess, I would think his dealer is not willing To make a one to one exchange. yes
