A whole lot of nothing. We were standing outside of the garage talking about the other Taycans when it return and moving slowly heading to it's parking spot inside. When I didn't hear any engine note I knew it was the EV one. And it was confirmed.
It's their first prototype, basically for testing running gear, so nothing about handling or styling can be deduced. I mean it moves, so that'a good start. Not even sure if they will keep the size, but initially it is just about Boxster size. Also pointless to talk interior styling as it was just a whole bunch of parts slapped together just to get it moving.
When Porsche do their testing, they are serious about the testing part. They take full control of the either the high speed ring or the handling circuit or both for the whole weekend running cars non-stop 24/7, at the high speed ring they would clock 7-8000km of running time. They literally drive in circles until something breaks.

Ha, with all that camo, it gives off a bit of F430 spider vibes from that front 3/4 angle!
But it looks lik below all that camo, they are going for the Taycan treatment design wise, which makes sense; they introduced a very distinctive design language for their electric vehicle, so if the boxster line is going full electric, it's only logical to carry over some of that design language.
I really like how Porsche introduced the Boxster years ago as an entry-level Porsche, made it grow up fully to the level of the GT4rs, and now re-invent the model as their step into electric sports cars. Whether one agrees with electric being the future or not, it is our current future, and it pleases me to see that Porsche is at the forefront of the development as a performance car company.

They will. Piece of cake for them. It will also clearly show that there is much more appeal to these than just government climate mandates. The biggest thing to watch for is how badly it will smoke the 911. Something we have never seen before. They will need to kneecap it a lot and it will be obvious. Might speed up the EV 911 to market as well.
My hope is that pure demand and customer satisfaction and not incentives or laws will be the primary motivator as the mode of transport slowly matures. Everything else just costs more money and likely involves too much government.
Also means much better product for consumers - just saying. Off my soapbox.

So far, not really a piece of cake as far as I heard. They seem to have found an interesting solution though.
