    W8MM:

At least your car was built with PCCB, as ordered.

Mine was switched from PCCB to iron rotors by someone with an employee code in Germany.  What a surprise on delivery!

I'm working out a solution to the issue.

    IMG_2344.jpeg

Looks amazing. If you want to track the car often, iron brakes are the better solution anyway (from a cost/value point of view, if you care).

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

The solution (with major dealer cooperation) is to source some PCCB yellow calipers and Surface Transform carbon ceramic rotors.

Yellow to match the yellow belts, door pulls and the yellow LED light from the door sills.

I'll be extra happy with this result.

Love at first sight, HAD to have one. Never a car I wanted so badly. Not even the 918. Main draw of the car is the inside the cabin air intake. Mid-engine chassis is the 2nd draw, engine 3rd.

You will not be disappointed with the inside air intake, if you like LOUD Smiley ( for long highway drives I use ear plugs) I love that I can play with the intake sound depending on throttle input. Don't forget to put your right hand on the carbon intake cover when you play with the throttle .... it is sensorial Smiley

Your 2nd and 3rd draws make this car very lively compared to the planted GT3

I did some highway already on the way back, speed between 80-110km/hr, doesn't sound too loud inside, perhaps will be louder at a higher speed?

I have only gotten it up to 4000rpm, sport exhaust button doesn't seems to do much on the exhaust sound, but I can hear the intake resonance 'change gear', Weil switching tunes a few times from idle to 4000rpm already, my gf think it is so cool, as normal cars has one tune that goes up. I have to imagine the engine note switch at least a couple more times between 4000-9000rpm.

And yes, I love lively cars, I know the ballpark on how lively it can be as I have a GT4CS Smiley

992 GT3 is too civilized, fool proof. And big.

It all depends where your throttle is. You can rise speed with not much noice if done gently, progressively , like pushing one or two cm on the throttle .  Up to about 130/140 km/h  it is quite easy to keep the sound down.

It is when you start accelerating harder, pushing all the way on the throttle , changing speed fast , then the air intake comes fully alive. About one hour on the highway is fine for me cruising in regular traffic , after that, and specially if I go to Germany, I am more confortable with light ear plugs.

    1)  ST has two different kits for the GT4RS.  A) replacement of PCCB rotors with ST and B) conversion from iron to ST rotors retaining the red calipers.  The only difference between the two options is the dimensions (thickness) of the supplied caliper-mounting spacer.  Because of the difference between the OE rear rotor sizes (iron/PCCB) and the ST rotors, a caliper-to-hub spacer is required to correct for the differing radii of the rotors.  The lever arm of the pad-to-axle distance is a little different which adds a little bit to rear brake bias, but is allegedly not noticeable with the nannies engaged.  Retaining the red calipers requires twice the radius extension versus the PCCB calipers.  I went with PCCB calipers to minimize the extra rear brake torque.

    2)  The USA warranty situation is a bit different than EU and my experience with such things has been non-problematic.

I chose the ST solution because their rotors cost HALF as much as PCCB rotors and they don't suffer from chopped-fiber worm-hole burn out.  I started using them on my Carrera GT back in the day.

Looks lovley.  And least from the pics fits perfectly with your Viola paint, better than yellow in any case. Smiley

Now the only thing you have to do is change the yellow calipers to black. Smiley

Very interesting. Thanks. Does ST also offer a set of calipers that fit their carbon rotors (like AP-Racing does), or do you have to source PCCB calipers? I can't find the kit on their website. It's probably not added yet.

Yes I notice the throttle input influence the sound A LOT!

So addictive, never a Porsche is like this. This car is mega fun!!

Haha. On one hand yes but on the other hand the yellow calibers are a show off to those who didn't get PCCB Smiley

Sorry Mike, not trying to put a dig on you, not personal. Smiley

Whole point of me getting PCCB was to keep brake dust down on the gold wheels. The only good reason to choose PCCB over regular steel.

It is a different sound. Your car has a more progressive engine sound and ends up screaming at 9k.

The 4RS is an intake sound. You don't hear the engine sound so much. A more ''boxy'' sound. Not as progressive as you can have the car as loud at 6k rpm then at 9k rpm.

At 9k,  dB is probably very close for both cars

Quite a write up comparing the RS4 to the CGT and 918. Clearly, the RS4 is a special car despite it looking like a baby Porsche. Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

I did informed Porsche I will be ordering one. But the new 3RS has no hope of matching the GT4RS for all-aroundness.

At this very moment in time, Porsche don't have anything that's better than the GT4RS. 992 GT3 might score better on a track but out in the mountains they feel like a bull in a china shop. Clumpsy and not nimble enough. Inherit weakness of a whale of a car.

I tend to agree. But visually it looks like a baby 3RS. Given your track driving knowledge I have to believe the 3RS would be in your wheelhouse. All the aerodynamics adjustments to produce faster times is the nirvana of motor enthusiast like you..Smiley

Re: OFFICIAL: Cayman GT4 RS (2021)

Nah, to fully, and I mean fully, take advantage of the adjustments offered by the GT3RS, after all the professional drives, I'd be generous to give it 5% of the capable track junkies in the world. I am not part of that select group.

One can do a corner by corner adjustment in the new GT3RS, just like F1 car.

Outside of trying to show off the car at car and coffee, I can't think of any reason mere mortals buying the car.
