Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

RC do you not know anyone that can give you insight on the hold on the GT3 cars in Baltimore?

Why would Porsche not pre-approve the cars before shipping, if the hold is due in fact to an EPA certification thing.

To me it sounds real suspect, and as someone who has a car in Baltimore, it quite simply pisses me off.
Beginning to wonder if the car really is worth waiting for, since summer is here and I have no car.

Your insight or thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

I can answer ONE thing for sure: this car IS worth waiting for it. I'll look into the other "problem" and post results as soon as possible. Yes, it seems to have something to do with certification but I don't have any details yet.

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

    RR4,

Here's what I know or am being told.

A high level exec at PCNA (2nd or 3rd from the CEO), told a friend of mine at the Porsche Parade that the EPA certification issue had been resolved. Apparently this fact has not been communicated down to the regional reps that interface with the dealers because most of them are still saying the cars are on hold pending certification.

What I am now being told is that PAG (not PCNA, which surprises me) wants the top 30 dealers to all get their cars at the same time. So the cars are being held in PDI awaiting more cars to hit the port. There are 14 total in the US awaiting release. My sales guy talked to the people at the Baltimore PDI, which is a third party contractor, and they say they have 6 tucked away in a garage pending release from PCNA.

Apparently this also happened earlier this year with the Targa and the PDI guys said after the cars sat for a couple of months, PCNA had them install new wheels and tires, new batteries, new brake rotors, etc before delivering the cars.

My dealer says he thinks they will have 30 cars in the country by the second week in July but who knows? He hasn't hit a date right yet, so I don't have much confidence in this one either.

Of course, he is just as frustrated as I am because he isn't making any money on a car that is sitting in port.

I'll keep you posted when I hear something else.

    Karl

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

    Why can't they be upfront.
if the car is coming on June 28 say it is. If it is arrving July 20, August 15 or September 10 just be up front and honest, cause everytime they give me a date, Im going to be calling my dealer asking where the F my car is.
If they tell me it's August then that's that, but this back and forth deal is not right. Hate to be jacked around.

I knew the EPA thing had to be just a time giver.

When this whole ordeal had started back in the first week of June when the first 5 cars arrived in port, there was someone on funcarsonline that did post a message that read something to the effect that PAG wanted to wait for all the dealers to get each one car before they released it - so I guess he was right.

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

What is the total sales of GT3s in the US market?

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

0 so far, because they haven't delivered any cars. I have heard the total number slated for the NA market is either 600 or 750, depending I who you want to listen to. However, the way the cars seem to be trickling out, I don't see how they will deliver more than 70 this year.

If they expect 30 by mid-July, then they won't get much after that because the factory shuts down the last week of July for a month. After the plant starts up, there are very few US dealers with allocations in the Sept-Nov timeframe from what I'm hearing, so I can't imagine they'll deliver more than another 30-40 cars in that timeframe. Allocations seem to open back up in the Dec 03 - June 04 timeframe, so maybe they plan to deliver a lot more cars in the first half of next year.

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

I just confirmed with PCNA that they are holding about 6 cars at the port and they don't expect that those cars (or any other GT3's that come in) to be released before the middle to end of July. It seems that the EPA thing has been ironed out and it will be 3-4 more weeks to get the cars rolling.

Re: Attention RC re: GT3's in North America.

    Yes,

my dealer told me the same thing.
    Three more weeks.
But who cares? Chances are it won't show up then either.
September is looking like the real thing, if you ask me.

Thank you for answering my question. I realize that I asked it in a manner that I did not mean. I meant expected for America. Thank you for the answer.

    RR4...

Apparently it is true, PCNA wants all dealers to get the cars at the same time.
ksalno seems to be right with what he said.
I know this is hard for you to wait even longer for your car but as I stated before, it is wort waiting for.
