Lately after the Indians got control of Land Rover they made slightly better cars but still awful with widely accepted standards.

Enmanuel:Well it does look good. If it breaks down at least you'll be standing at the side of the road in style.
Haha, that's always my first priority when my car breaks down: "Do I at least look stylish?"

Honestly, there isn't. 
There are bad years and there are less bad years haha.
The old Defenders are nice, rugged, and reliable enough however.
The name plate is just too hyped up. Camel Trophy, 'stock' Discovery doing those things? All a lie. Those trucks are heavily modified. I met someone who had participated in one, he said these Discovery are so far out from showroom stock it's not even funny.

But hey, by that time, they should have addressed the major deficiencies with that model. However, it does seem that British engineering is more an oxymoron that a source of pride.
