    midnight blue or lapis blue???

    any owner of these 2 colours???

    why did you choose one over the other?

    Looks like no-one went for these colours!

    Perhaps the question should be why did everyone deliberately not choose either of the above colours.


    For me, they reminded me of my VW Golf - it was pretty much the same colour as Lapis. And I saw a Midnight blue in the showroom, and found the paint 'orange peely'. Rumoured to be softer paint as well.

    I really liked the Midnight Blue and I was going to buy it. Then I changed my mind since I didn't want a dark car that would show dirt and swirl marks so much.

    I really like it though. I've never seen the Lapis Blue.

    Haven't seen a 987 yet in Lapis, but have seen two in Midnight. Midnight all the way, lapis is a nice color, midnight is a stunning color IMO. Midnight in front, lapis behind....

    do you know those offical porsche pictures in the website..
    it is a 987 in a blue colour?

    but is it midnight blue or lapis blue?.. haha it looks nice in those pictures...

    i guess if choosing midnight blue colour you gotta keep it very clean everyday..so it can be shiny...

    also midnight blue gives a mysterious feeling to people .. well thats what i think haha..

    I believe the Boxster S release cars (when the 987 was first seen at the dealers) were Midnight and Stone Grey....so I believe the Porsche pictures you may be looking at are Midnight. Yes it is darker than Lapis and tends to change color from a deep blue in sunlight, to a deep blue with a little purple at night. It will be harder to keep cleaner than Lapis, but not by much. Another midnight.....

    The Boxster you see on the website is definitely Midnight Blue.

    I agree - the UK 2.7 launch cars were that combination. It would just worry me that those are probably the two most difficult colours to keep looking great.

    getting midnight blue with stone grey interior...
    perhaps with blue soft top or stone grey soft top???

    i notice a different between 987 and 987S

    well at least for me i just notice it...dont shout at me if you guys know it already.. haha..

    the inlet is silver colour for the S!!!

    The car I saw was midnight and sand and looked beautiful. I think sand would be a better choice than grey, more of a contrast, makes the blue look richer. All IMO of course!

    i had midnight w/ metropole blue top -- after years of cab.s i think tops MUST match body colour -- much better look.

    i had the sand/tan int which contrasted nicely with the blue car.

    We have a lapis blue Cayenne S which looks great (black full leather) but ordered a 987 in midnight blue with sand beige full leather. I saw this color combo at my dealership and loved it. Lapis with black interior works great on the Cayenne IMHO but on the 987 (as on the 986) lapis is too bright for my taste as the darker midnight blue looks more stylish with beige interior. BTW: Will pick up the car in Zuffenhausen in three weeks time

    Avoid Lapis. I had it and it will show every mark imaginable. Also looks dirty about 20 minutes after washing it. Might be one of the reasons why so few are about. Go with Midnight.

    Lapis is really an odd color....one reason is because it is so relective.....good and bad quality to have. If you keep the paint in great condition it looks good for years.....if you don't it's one of those colors that seems to bite you harder.....showing every minor scratch & blemish worse than most other colors.....even black. Great color, just a little hard to keep it that way IMO.
