Good in-put Carlos , you got to watch them , fyi when I went to spec my car I pulled him on certain issues such as -- he said " do I want chrome tips on my PSE " I said it already has them , he hated it.. And when I mentioned that I had been reading the Porsche forums he disregarded the subject totally saying that people on these boards just speculate..

No it's too much... I was quoted 1950.00 + Tax and 4.5 hours to install...
AND... they said it should arrive today! crossed fingers/legs/ and toes
... dammed those internet forums!!

All those pre-install PSE owners, please post your opinions and experiences, once you've done some miles into the car....
Dealer said, 7 hours to pre-install PSE...Also we have in mind, some dealers in Spain (Barcelona I believe), had some problems in the first pre-installations...So "pre-install" PSE

I will install the whole thing including electronics for 50% of what your quote is.
I've done these installs before, and know all of the gotchas. My Installs are also 100% Porsche compliant, and will not compromise your warranty.

I just put my check in the mail to the dealer for the PSE part for my base 997
w/o Sport Chrono. For cars such as mine without Sport Chrono, don't I get a switch on the console to turn it on or off? The Parts guy said he didn't think so, but I'm almost positive I do. Please confirm.

If you have the Sports Chrono package, you do not get another switch. Only cars without the package get a new switch.

My understanding is with non chrono you do get a on/off switch on the console..

1. R&R mufflers

I just finished reading through the installation instructions for the PSE. The installation includes the following:
Removing standard mufflers
Installing PSE mufflers
Routing electro-pneumatic actuation system and install
Cars with BOSE Surround Sound - Remove subwoofer
Remove rear side trim pieces
Remove rear three-point belts and rear seat backrest & brackets
Remove rear trim panel
Trim panel for rear closing panel
Trim panel for control unit (CU)
Trim panel for rear shelf
Carpet lining for rear seat well, requires lifting center console slightly
Remove support for CU (DME) and relay carrier.
Route wire harness from engine compartment through grommet into passenger compartment, through cable duct to installation location for DME
Replace Sport Chrono button with new button (P/N997.613.131.00.FMH
After making wire connections, replace all the above components.
While no re-programming may be required, the instruction calls for the PIWIS to be connected to read out any faults that may occur and correct them, then erase the fault memory.
I don't know about you, but I would be hard pressed to believe that this installation could be done in 3.3 hours in a 997S with Sport Chrono.

You are right, it will probably take about 4 hours. Come on up to NorCal and I will show you how to do it. All of the stuff about removing the trim pieces, is that they just pop out or are held in by one or two screws. It will take 15 minutes tops to get all of the trim and carpet out of the way to get at the DME. The part that requires the most concentration is changing the pins around on the DME connector.
This is not a difficult installation. It is 30% less complicated than a 996.
