noone1:What do standard 918 wheels weigh in comparison?
I didn't weight them but HRE did.
OEM magnesium wheels F17lbs R21lbs $60k a set
OEM forged aluminum wheels F25lbs R30lbs $30k a set
HRE forged aluminum wheels in stock sizing F21lbs R26lbs $15k a set.
Mine are narrower than stock so a little bit lighter.

Milanno:Whoopsy:And my custom sized HRE wheels for my winter tires arrived today.
One question: You want to drive 918 during winter
As he explained in his province snow tires are required as of a specific calandar day. So if you want to drive the car at all after that date even if there is no snow you need legal tires. I know, right?

Same (semi-mandatory...if you get into an accident and you have no winter tires, you loose insurance coverage and worse...) in Germany, even worse in Austria (completely mandatory within a certain period of time), other EU countries as well.
The only reason I didn't get winter wheels for my R8 is...cost. They cost quite a lot (a wheel set is around 8000 EUR, ouch). I am thinking about replacing my summer tires (they already have over 8000 km) with winter tires of the same size and then switch back to summer tires next spring. Would be probably cheaper than to get a separate wheel set.

It's a option to have that painted black or any other color.
The owner of this 918 also did the same thing to his 918 badge

Might not have much photos (too busy driving ) I have GoPro footage, but those are not for posting publicly as at times we were doing triple the posted speed.
We had 3 convoys, 2 with Porsche Turbo S rentals and one for the customers that brought their own cars, Jens Richter took a 918 to lead that group, which has 2 918s, a 993 Turbo and one more customer Turbo S.
The Turbo S is just fun! It just explodes from hairpin to hairpin, and for passing traffic along the way, just think and the pass is done. At times I wish I was driving the GT3RS, but since most of the hairpins are 1st gear corner, it will be a bit dicey on exits as for sure the car will be sliding and drifting on exits. No such thing in the Turbo S, traction is unbelievable.
not to go off-topic but we are discussing nice drives....my brother is entering the rally of the incas 13th November till 9th December....should provide some crazy roads and scenery

Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary... That's what gets you.
Itsme:I did all the passes with my Porsche and/or my bike. It will be great fun if the weather is ok.
But: the Stelvio/Stilfser Joch is missing. If you are in Meran you should go there.
Maybe an idea for a future Rennteam meet? I actually have to thank Nick for posting the map, very very inspiring.

May the force be with you when trying to find a date which suits everyone ;-)
I know, this really sucks. Maybe if we start this whole "process" very early? Or we let someone professional handle it, for a small fee? Now it is too late, it rains in Germany and the temperature has dropped, even if it is going to be a bit warmer along the week. I hope Nick and his 918 crew can enjoy a dry drive.

Christian, in NL, there are wbesites like datumprikker.nl (date selector), where you fill in the emailaddresses of all participants, select a number of dates and let everybody indicate which dates are possible, impossible or uncertain...
Very useful in creating these kinds of events.
