    Red 997s

Hi guys went to the dealers today and found a red 997s

    Re: Red 997s

    I'm just not sure about red and I don't know why. I think red looks great on a 356, 944, Carrera 3.2, 930 & 964, but I'm not a fan of red 993/996/997's.

    Weird.

    Re: Red 997s

I feel like red has to be on a ferrari or an older model alfa romeo...
With the modern p's I have my doubts, but one cannot argue about colours and tastes

    Re: Red 997s

i must say i agree with silver bullet, it looks good on a 997 but it doesn't look great, but then again it's just personal taste

    Re: Red 997s

    How about yellow then

    Re: Red 997s

I would prefer yellow than red.
But it looks too much like a toy and it's too "eye-catching" for an everyday car. (my 2 cents opinion)

    Re: Red 997s

Red is the right Classic color!

    Re: Red 997s

    Big mistake--Black is beautiful!

    I'd agree with that

    Re: Red 997s

You guys are all wrong...GT silver all the way...j/k...the right color is whatever turns your crank...

    Re: Red 997s

Let's keep this up! I hope we can get a good size pic (like the others above) of a 997 in every color available.

Black is beautiful, but maintenance intensive - shows dirt, swils, scratches very easily. 5 years down the road, it's not so beautiful (unless, like 69bossnine, you really know how to care for it).

GT Silver is gorgeous, but is it worth the extra $ over Arctic? Really??

    Re: Red 997s

Once you've had black, you never go back.

hmmmm....once you've had black, you never go back to black!! While I love the look, my opinion is that it is not worth all the hard work. My last car was black. I'm now waiting for an arctic silver 997. Call me a traitor!!

Well, for me it's completely worth it. GT silver is darker, more "steel" in color. IMHO, artic silver looks washed out in the sun. GT silver is a more complex color that changes dramatically with the lighting. For some, it might not be worth it, but I'm really happy!

Hey, that's my car Black is a PITA. Swirls are the norm unless you want to spend an inordinate amount of time obsessing with it. It's OK for now......

    Re: Red 997s

Is that an extra brake light in the spoiler?

    Re: Red 997s

My us$.02. depends where you live and your peer group. If I got a red Porsche they'd get giggly and wonder if I went bonkers at the office. When my silver 997s arrives in September they'll say, "that's about right."

Red ferrari? Always a great idea regardless of age or peer group.

Yea, otherwise the other one would get blocked when the spoiler is up at speed.

I love the terracotta interior! Looks great with the cab...

Absolutely ... lemme say that again... absolutely. I made my choice the moment I saw it live and pics from my newbie posts on this board. It's just suave deep silver that says Porsche!

The price might put you down a bit once you see it on a car you will know its worth it...

Here are some shots of GT Silver with different shades...

    I couldn't agree more

    Re: Red 997s

For me GT-silver with cocoa-interior was my preferable choice...
But, 1st, it was too expensive, 2nd: my wife only wanted to agree on a new car if it had the same colour of the previous. So family and clients wouldn't notice any difference...
So i didn't really have to think twice about my combo: black/black ... Not very inventive, but nice and sporty IMO

    Re: Red 997s

And Belar and i shares the same issue,
    back in black.

    Re: Red 997s

    it's all about triple-black, UNLESS...

Wasn't the first F car yellow?

Black looks absolutely perfect on the 997, the curves and lights, chrome interior all look at there best...IMO

    Defiantly worth the extra care

Same here. My 2002 997TT was Black. Went with Artic Silver this time. Almost switched to GT Silver. Had a unique opportunity to see an Artic 997 next to a Gt Silver in my dealers lot before they built my car. One of the things I noticed is Artic reflects sunlight a lot stronger than GT Silver. Where's Seal reflects sun light the least of the three. GT Silver is between Artic and Seal in it's reflective quality. At the high points in the paint on fenders etc it was almost difficult to look at the Artic. The very silver mettalic in the Artic most closely resembles the bright Silver inside the headlights and fogs and the chrome headlight washers. It's the closest to the Carrera logo as well. The GT and Seal are darker, more grey then Silver imo. When we (my wife and I) were walking around the two cars (Artic and GT Silver) we both looked at one another and at the same time said : "Artic"... Decision made. Of course everyones tastes and preferences are different and color is such a subjective thing but imo the Artic is the brightest and most reflective color Porsche has. It also is the most classic Porsche color.
