    Re: [2022] Formula 1

“Partnership between Porsche AG and Red Bull GmbH will not come about”

    09/09/2022

In the course of the last few months, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and Red Bull GmbH have held talks on the possibility of Porsche’s entry into Formula 1. The two companies have now jointly come to the conclusion that these talks will no longer be continued.

The premise was always that a partnership would be based on an equal footing, which would include not only an engine partnership but also the team. This could not be achieved. With the finalised rule changes, the racing series nevertheless remains an attractive environment for Porsche, which will continue to be monitored.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

I see this as a good thing. It would never have worked ..in retrospect.

McLaren would be a much better fit....if they insist on going down the F1 route.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

And now we shall see those powertrain engineers Red Bull poached from Mercedes going to work and develop their own engine, with some Honda IP mixed in.

Guess from 2026 onwards Red Bull will no longer be a privateer team but a full blown works team.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

I'm strangely glad that it didn't work out. As fun as it would be to have Porsche in F1, it never seemed like a good fit to me.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Lots of people taking grid penalties for this race: Verstappen, Hamilton, Perez, Sainz...

Big chance for Russell since I'm certain Ferrari will cock up Leclerc's race.

Why would RB agree to "equal footing" ?   RB is currently dominating F1 and Porsche hasn't participated in F1 in decades.  No way should RB agree to this.

That's fine, but then you should also not agree to the other part having a 50% financial stake in your business.

The original deal was the exit plan for Mateschitz to cash out on the Red Bull F1 venture. Basically the boss himself made the deal and the staff didn't quite wanted to follow through.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

As usual, despite already being a WDC, Max still have no class, or manners for that matters.

He literally reminds people of those kids that got no guidance from mom nor dad and just learn all the stuff on the street with the wrong crowd.

He isn't the new kid on the block anymore, but a 7 year veteran on the series, he should have known better. His father who is always around him should reprimand him for acting like a spoiled entitled brat. Kids are looking up to him as the example as he is the current WDC. With him acting like that, kids coming up the ranks will think it's ok for them to be like this. Completely unacceptable.

We all know you have a strong affection for him and aversion for Tesla. Is there anything else to add?

That finger has been given from several drivers, even world champions, before. Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen... so what's the point? Stop being a hypocrite in that regard. Or watch some videos how Nelson Piquet has behaved on and off the track back in his era, that would be something to talk about.

And I recalled I had been very consistent in my criticizing for drivers behaviours, no one escape that.

Tsunoda and Verstappen had been the 2 most prolific foul mouths in car. Maybe others swear here and there but the F1 team did not broadcast those, doesn't mean I am letting them off the hook. Plus, Verstappen is the current WDC, of course all focus will be on him. Up until last week, I don't recall hearing Hamilton swears on the radio either, but it would seems that was broadcasted but unfortunately I wasn't watching the race and I was at the Brickyard unable to catch that. When Vettel was misbehaving before, I was on him too. I had also commented on Leclerc's infrequent outbursts. Same with Stroll and others. Alonso and Raikkonen too.

The 3 drivers that gets the least attention all happens to be British, Norris, Russell and Hamilton. Can also throw Ricciardo in there as he doesn't let his instantaneous emotions takes over.

I was brought up under the British in HK, learned British manners, and I am not even in the public's eyes. These drivers are. They should be held to a higher standard than even my own. They are the role models for kids looking up. Whataboutism doesn't work, it isn't ok to do it just because others are doing it. Is it ok to slap a girl just because others are doing it? No.

Instead of rebutting me and justifying about his finger gesture, what you should be doing is to raise the issue with your idol Max, fan meal, Twitter, FB messenger or whatever, telling him this isn't ok.

What's accepted as 'normal' before isn't in modern society. Look at grid girls, that's one thing I want back. Drivers dangling a cigarette next to their cars? Nope. Tobacco sponsorship liveries? Gone. Being rude to others are never acceptable and cannot be justified.

Verstappen was raised by a Dutch dad, and a bad one at that. We're rude people, deal with it. :-D
I would prefer him not to throw his middle finger around, had he been my kid, I would have slapped him on the back of his head for it. Other than this not being classy, I have seen a lot worse by a lot of other drivers and "role models".

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Shame we didn’t get one last lap of racing in at the end. Still think Max would’ve taken it but still…

Another masterclass of strategy by Red Bull and tire management by Max.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Clear demonstration of what should have happened in Abu Dhabi when proper procedures are followed by the book by the Race Director.

None of that partial wave through nonsense or cut short the Safety Car period.

Well deserved win by Verstappen, he has the fastest car for sure. The Ferrari just doesn't have the race pace to match the Red Bull, and for once they didn't fuck up the strategies. Doesn't matter what they do, they aren't winning the race.

Another Italian fucked up however today, the sound guy for the national anthem.

De Vries scored points on his debut race, wonderful!

Hamilton passing 3 cars at once on the outside? Wow.

    Another podium by Russell!

Latiffi/Schumacher battle, what wonderful car control by Mick, and so aggressive, got shades of his dad there. What De Vries and Schumacher did today was just to confirm Latiffi just doesn't belong in F1, he is only there from his dad's Lavazza money.

On a side note, FIA might stand firm and not grant an exemption to Herta, thus spoiling the Gasly to Alpine swap. How the dominos are stuck and not falling.

Yes, great they let them race last year, even it it hurt Lewee's butt, much more fun the SC finishes.

Note Bene:  today Hannah kept Max out when all pitted, they are so wrapped tactically near perfectionSmileySmiley

The Race Director has the discretion to keep the Safety Car going and end the race that way or put out a red flag and get some racing in. He however doesn't have the right to short cut procedures and cut and paste part of this and part of that however he sees fit. Think the upcoming FIA meeting is going to discuss if they will deploy the red flag if an incident happens in the last few laps they can have a racing finish, which some fans would love to see. But with a red flag restart, strategy won't matters anymore as everyone gets to change tires.

But it won't matter either way, Verstappen will still win. Unlike Hamilton in Abu Dhabi last year, he has the luxury of a big enough gap that he can pit for new tires and still come up ahead of Leclerc, so he won't be giving up track position or traction if the race restarted. With such a big lead, it's only logical to come in for new tires to cover whoever Leclerc could do and not be a sitting duck in front.
