Here is an article on the 430 Spider. It explains

very well the F1 and performance safety features of the car.

Thanks for the article Nick . This red top is a killer, I love it.

Re: Here is an article on the 430 Spider. It explains

    Thanks Nick,
    Awesome colour!
    Grigrio Silverstone right?
What a shame and disgrace that the roof is just a carry over from the 360
Probably the only cab out there still with a plastic rear window!
(With Pagania and Lambo being exceptions I guess )
Still not a big fan of the giant nostrils on the front.
Apart from that, really can't think of anythin negative about this car, simply awesome!

Ferrari consider replacing the plastic window but it would have interfered with the glass showing the rear engine. Thus they decided not to do it.

BTW, the top is designed and manufacturered by a Porsche owned company.

The greystone color with a red top looks good but not sport car like enough for me. I have been going over colors for the Spider and have pretty much decided that there is nothing like Ferrari red with tan interior. Also, the 430 really looks good in red.

Re: Here is an article on the 430 Spider. It explains

That small piece of cloth on top is just to keep
dust off the inside swhen parked in a garage.

The Lambo Murcielago soft top is even more primitive.

Re: Here is an article on the 430 Spider. It explains

I wouldn't care too much about the plastic rear window. The car is designed to be driven with top down. Visibility of the Spider with top up isn't very good, no matter which material the rear window is made of. And if the rear window should be scratched, it can easily be replaced.

Re: Here is an article on the 430 Spider. It explains

    Yup.
And the top in the 360 worked fine. I guess that's the reason it's a carryover to the 43O. The best part about the top of the 43O though is the fact that it allowed Ferrari to surprise everyone releasing the Spider well before many thought possible because it shares the same top w/ the 360. Hallelujah ! Should I take mine in Red with Black leather, race buckets CCM w/ red calipers ?

Or Titanium with Black leather, race buckets /silver stitching, CCM w/ red calipers ?

Or Black with Black leather, race buckets/yellow stitching, CCM' w/ yellow calipers. ?

Leaning towards Red but Black with yellow stitching, picking up the yellow Ferrari emblums and shields is sick.

Of course it works fine, I agree, it worked fine too in my Boxster S, it's just unworthy or a car of such quality and perfection.
It scores AAA in all area, and they keep the plastic window, just a bit of a shame that's all.
And it's not CTS' fault (owned 100% by Porsche, you're right Nick) they're just contractors and do what they're told to do.

My vote would be for black/black w/Red stiching & dials, and Red calipers, but the black/black/yellow is also awesome. The 430 looks absolutely stunning in black , can't wait to see the CS version with yellow stripes
