    hey all

    hey every one
    im new. .... hehe aint i just lucky.....
    im 20 years old and my dads said i can get a new car. guess what im gonna be the VERY proud owner of a porsche approved used 997CS
    hope i can be part of your 'community' cause i just wanna chat to people who have a love for the new 997 like i do.
    PS im gonna be asking ALOT of questions cause i wanna find out just how good this car is before i get it.(in about a week or 2)

    go to "My Home" (upper menu bar), then select "Personal information, email, password, etc."

    there you can "Upload your avatar" in the appropriate section. prepare a nice graphics before you do so, 80x80 pixel is the perfect size. PNG or JPEG is the perfect format.

    A 20 year old kid in a very powerful and seductive performance car that his dad approved? I wouldn't do that. I'm glad MY father didn't allow that. Matter of fact, I can't believe I survived the TR6 that I had at 25. Parents shouldn't trust their kids when hormones are involved, kids shouldn't trust themselves though that's impossible because of the hormones involved.

    Congratulations on your upcoming charge that's equivalent to a loaded gun: you be careful widdat! One bad mistake/accident and lots of people's lives can be ruined.

    No flames please and sorry for weighing in with the reality check.

    Everbody is different. I drove a Shelby GT350 through high school. Some hairy moments, but it taught me at an early age that cars could bite back. Sometimes sheltering people from things is worse than tossing them in and walking them closely through the learning process. A 40 year old person who's driven nothing but plugs their entire life is just as likely to make a bonehead mistake in a performance machine as a youngster. Your dad needs to enroll you in a high-speed driving school, where you can really learn the limits on a road course. There's no better way to get your head straight, and understand how quickly things can run afoul at speed. That would be my best advice. Track time....

    I bought my first car when I was 17, a 1974 Camaro w/ 103k miles on the clock for $1500 bucks with the money I earned delivering newspapers. When I was 20 I used the money I earned working 2 summer jobs (cleaning pools and golf caddy) to buy a used 1985 Mustang.......Could I borrow your dad for a while ? Hey, good for you. I hope you appreciate what your dad is doing for you. I would. Sounds like a helluva guy!

    What is the 997 going to look like ? Do you have one picked out yet ?

    Congratulations - but are you sure you want to buy an ex-demo model ? When I go on a test drive, I usually drive the hell out of the car I'm testing...

    Also, if you're spending THAT much cash, whether yours or your dad's, why don't you buy a car with all the spec and colours you want ? Unless you aren't prepared to wait for it to be built to order that is...

    In any event, good luck with whatever you decide...!

    be careful man respect the car get to know it before you push the limits the best advice would be PDE.

    Demo car... Order and get your 997 they way you want it, just a thought.

    If he had to order now, I think the he'll only get the an october build the earliest, I don't think he really wants to wait

    BCE the porsche centre normally has 1 or 2 new cars they order just for "stock" for some eager people who aren't willing to wait :P so consult your dealer about it, i know mine does it

    LOL! I am 19 years old and i am already on my second car. First car Cayenne S, and Second is now, 997 S Cab. I do agree that it is danger to let a young person to drive but i also agree that letting to young ones to experience might not be a bad thing after all. I brought my car myself with my own money "not dady money" as i make money for myself

    so if you live to be 30 after having a Porsche as I assume your daily driver, congratulations, you will be spoiled for life, and will drive way too fast till you do actually die (of natural causes I will wager)!

    I am proof of that. I learned to drive at age 12 in a new 1965 Shelby GT350. After that I was ruined at an early age. By the time I was 17 I was piloting cars routinely at 130-140 mph. I have always had fast cars, and always drive them accordingly. I have an accident of some sort about every 10 years, and a speeding ticket about every 4-5 years, and rack that up to statistics.

    So enjoy your car and this group will have you sounding like an old pro in no time.

    I think it's unfortunately even worse now moogle, they basically take any car they like. it is really really a beautiful country, but it's getting overrun by criminals these past few years.. our police are a joke
