    Re: GT4RS

Both cars look very attractive, congratulations kiss

The Arctic Grey is a very becoming colour for this model. And the White is a very unadulterated sportscar colour ; it reminds me of the impression of purity created by the classic G series 911s in white with the various contrasting black bits.

Could Gnil and Gauss commend on the intake noise next to the driver's ear, a point often mentioned by reviewers. How extreme and irritating it could become on a journey? On the track it might be exciting and reduced by the wearing of a helmet, but on the road and after a length of time?

    Re: GT4RS

The intake noise is absolutely fine for casual cruising. You can really adjust the volume with your right foot. When you drive slowly in higher gear there can be some drone at around 3k rpm when you have the exhaust open. However you can always switch it off, and then there's no drone and it's just fine.

The induction noise is very enjoyable because as it changes its tune quite a bit... lots of Darth Vader breathing too indecision

Mind you that this has been my experience for the last 500 km only and revs under 5k... But, there's A LOT of fun to be had in that range alone, I can tell!!!

The car obviously is a bit louder inside than a regular 911, or Cayman I suppose (I have never driven one before), because of the lack of sound deadening and the airbox inside the cabin, but still absolutely bearable. Maybe the plastic airbox that you get without the Weissach package  is less loud (or different pitch), I don't really know.

The car is addictive and I just want to drive it all day long kiss

    Re: GT4RS

    Thank you for commenting.

This Porsche is perfect it seems. Ever since the Boxster mid-engined platform appeared 25 years ago, drivers had been praying for a really powerful engine to exploit the chassis. Now it is a pleasant reality.

Cherish your car and be entertained. kiss

I'm glad that I got the Michelin CUP tires, as opposed to the Dunlop that I got on the GT3.

I ve got also the Michelin, but they are N1 , not N2 Smiley

I never minded the Dunlop. I like how they feel when they start loosing grip. Very progressively.

@Reginos: I ll comment later. Done only 100 km . But my sales guy warned me to take earl plugs with me for long distances

    Re: GT4RS

    GENTS,

Try the supersport RS from GOODYEAR.

Obviously fast wear and if it is raining you are in trouble :-) but the grip is insane - it is wiorth a try believe me.

Does your GT3 have the mechanical/rattle engine noises at low speed that the previous GT3/RS had ?

No, it’s smoother and more refined at low revs.

    Re: GT4RS

Thanks to all of you for your words.

I am indeed happy to be back in an RS.

A few weeks ago I drove a Spyder so got a feeling about Porsche middle engine car. When I took delivery of my Gt4 RS, after driving it 5 min I felt already I was in a proper RS, very different then the Spyder. Not as dramatic as my former 3RS, but the driving feel, the precision, all was like in an RS. It is unbelievable how Porsche manages to give each car their proper carateritis to this point and to carry this feeling over into other platforms.

    I only did 100km, so I can't say much.

I am missing the mechanic engine noises my 991.2 GT3 RS was doing. It made the car feel like a race car. Gave drama. Why did they take this away ? surprise I am also missing the moise the exhaust did on my non particle filter car, specially at ignition but we have to live now with the new regulations.

I am enjoying the intake noise that starts at 3 rpm. I was driving on the highway and just giving a few press on the throttle and thinking how nice the sound in this car is ... and then I realized I didn't even have the sport exhaust on.

Push the button and then the sound became much deeper, mix of exhaust and intake. Interesting.

The car generally feel extremely well balanced and nimble. Will be fun .

Nice, Eric!  I think some of those noises you describe are from the flywheel and clutches in the PDK.

Yes exactly. But why have they disappeared in the 4RS ? Same engine, same gear box, no ? Why not keep the lighter flywheel ?

How is it in your 992 GT3 ?

Definitely not same gearbox in GT4 RS and GT3 (mid-engine vs. rear engine means all new hardware).  My GT3 is manual, so it also has different parts (no rattle sounds either).

It is a very lively car with a great sound. Nice for B roads.  But personally I don't like open roofs (except maybe on a nice summer evening in the countryside ) and to me it is more like a toy.  So it does not suit me personally.  The car gets great attention and many thumbs up.

I drove the F8 Tribute directly after and it was nearly less of an event, except when playing with the throttle .

You are right.  I love the rear end engine layout and the 911 shape. I also prefer the have to master a more intimidating car.

The GT4 feels much more accessible .

    I will wait.

Demand at my dealer is already twice the allocations.

    Re: GT4RS

I have done now 800 km, so still braking in the car.

    A few impressions :

The ride is less harsh then in my former 991.2 GT3RS. Suspensions are softer, less jumpy on highway or even roads. They do get rough on bumpy or very uneven tarmac.

The sound/noice : Very interesting as you are able to play with it. The intake noise is the main sound. And that can be controlled by how much pressure you put on the throttle. You can make lots of noise at 3500 rpm, and not at all at 5000 rpm if you wish to. Just keep the throttle light and then you get no noise intake. Push harder on the throttle and the sound is instant.  So driving on the highway is actually less noisy then in my former 991.2 GT3 Rs with WP. That car was very loud on long distances, as with the WP you had no insulation underneath the seats and you would get a noise resonance in the cabine which made me wear ear plugs on the long highways journeys to avoid arriving at destination feeling like this : heart  .  With the GT4RS you can actually cruise at 130 km/h with hardly any noise.

For extra tactile sensations : put your hand on the air box and push the throttle . You feel all the vibrations coming through your hand. Any little bit of air sucked trough the air intakes is instantly transformed into vibrations you can feel under your hand. Quite an experience blush

@ Grant : the gear box is now starting to make some very little mechanical noises. I hope the'll increase with more milage.

Generally this car feels like a ball of muscles. Neutrally balanced . Very agile.
