Now I do not know what to think
Today I used Race and CST off and tried to see if the car upshifted when it neared 8500 rpm. It did not. Then I put it into Sport and when it hit 8500 it upshifted. 
However, there was one difference involving the Sport mode test. The accelerator was fully depressed.. When I test Race and CRT off the throttle was not fully depressed.
I am going to check with Ferrari regarding what to expect. It is possible that the computer is reading the throttle and if it does not receive any input prior to reaching 8500 it upshifts automatically. However if it reads the throttle is not under full acceleration it may not upshift.
I do not want to test Race and CRT off under full acceleration. The car is new and I can easily get an answer from Ferrari.
