    cayman 0 to 100 km in 5.4 sec

    i saw the pics of the original car .... i loved it, the fog lights are round and it looks more agressive than the boxster, but i still prefer the boxster cose its a convertible and the difference in price is not justifiable... the side air intake are are nicely disigned with a curve that follows it...

    You mean it doesn't look like the 987 Boxster's , where Porsche seems to have gotten a good deal on buying out all the MR2's remaining supply of side intake grills from Toyota?

    I've heard the same Cayman numbers elsewhere. I think the dealer brochure states 5.4 sec 0-100.

    I was disappointed by this figure, as it doesn't seem significantly faster than a Boxster S (0.1 sec faster, to be precise). Then someone chided me for focusing on that number, and assured me it is irrelevant to overall performance.

    Hmmmm, we shall see.

    yes but the cayman s is different 0-60mph 4.5s

    General rule of thumb is if 0-100 kph( 0-62 mph ) is in the 4-5 sec range, them 0-60 mph will be about 0.1 sec faster. If 0-100 kph ( 0-62 mph ) in the 5-6 sec range, then 0-60 mph will be about 0.2 secs faster.

    So if official Cayman S 0-100 kph is 5.3s , then 0-60 mph is 5.1s at best , not 4.5s which is close to official 997 C2S number.

    the cayman s will be fine. The boxster s gets 0-60 in 5 seconds(this is not a factory time) so I would imagine the magazines will be getting 0-60 in like 4.8.

    The Cayman , like all Porsche sports cars to some extent,must be about balanced, total performance and driving pleasure for certain people who want and will pay for that Porsche " feeling " -not just acceleration , or else you might as well get a C6 Z06 and 210 additional hp for the same money and go 0-60 in 3.6s.

    cayman S , 0 to 100 km\h: 5.4 second... this is whats mentioned in the brochure. i was pretty much surprised myself , i thought that its performance would be better... by the way top speed is 275km\h.

    the brochure that i saw is about 15 pages and it gives a general idea about the car , there around 10 pictures of the car, my god, the cayman looks gorgeous more agressive then the boxster, front and rear spoilers are modified as well as the side air intakes, the exaustes are kind of squarish and the inside of the cayman is 99% boxster... no details about the dimentions of the car but it looks like the boxster... im sure that the cayman is capable of great performance especially when it comes to handling... i think that people will have to choose aggressive design (cayman) or open top(boxster)... i picked the open top already and had my car delivered yesterday (boxster s black/black)...

    Heh, so it is really only a Boxster S with a roof (as expected), even same performance - I guess everyone expected something extraordinary, but that will obviously not happen as long as the 911 is around

    Despite the fact that Porsche picked a name for it 'cayman' everyone still calls it Boxster coupe .

    6-speed, 18" wheels, PSM. US $58,900 base price. The 6-speed is the boxster tranny but with a shorter throw. 295hp/255ft.lbs. Has the variocam plus valve timing system like the '05 911.
