but did the testers say theoretically speaking, if it had higher profile tires, would it have been able to do it?
Yes, it would have gone up the stairs if it had a lower rim size.
The Cayenne presented some problems (cough, cough) during the test, lurching or software problems was the first, the H2 owner said: "Its like if the engine would choke". Transmission presented problems too, and this is not new to the Cayenne world. Biggest let down, transmission would not let us drift the Cayenne as we wanted but were able in the T-reg
The "20 inchers gave us little traction off road and ultimetely suffered a puncture in the 4th test, we had to leave it in the middle of nowhere and continued in the H2 and T-reg, but the mood was already sadden within the Porsche camp. We decided to leave it out of the stairmaster competition due to, once again the tires. And on the road despite being the fastest by far, drifting was not possible because the damn transmission. Of course all this will not be on my report but that's how it went. The T-reg did all the test impossed without a single complaint, yes its not the ultimate off roader as the H2 but the overall performance was tremendous, no lurching, no software problems, good torque and performance, it ran well on road and we ultimately used it to drift
Something we commented during the test was that when things are turned into real world conditions, results tend to change. We tested the Cayenne at the PDE where Porshe creates a controlled enviroment and run apples with apples, no real point of comparisson, and magazines are just full of crap when it comes to testing
So well here you have it, I hope not to disturb anyone with my comments but I just write what I experienced, this being a huge Porsche enthusiast.
