    997S going

Well I've done 500miles and I am going to get rid. There is nothing wrong with the car it just isn't for me. It is not the full out track day car (I get the new Caterham CSR in a couple of weeks for that) and I can't use it for the family. I don't drive to work or use it for work so it just sits there winking at me every morning begging for a play. Also, I live in Central London and it takes me 1/2 hr to get to a twistie and then there are speed camara's everywhere.

I really can't justify it, or maybe I can?

Anyone want a virtually brand new seal Grey S with all the bits including PSE?

    Re: 997S going

are you a dealer or something?

    Re: 997S going

    no just your average Joe

    Re: 997S going

911 is great bc is can all that at the same time, I mean, you can track it, you can drive in London with it, you can even take the little ones in the back!
Fantastic car as a multi purpose package but where it shines is oviously as a sports car.
Sporty sedan + new CSR (the 260hp one?) OR a 997S?
Ouh la la, not an easy choice.
Depends on the family car you chose my dear, M5 M5 M5!!!

It's a shame you didn't think of it earlier bc you will lose a lot of money with the 997S and CSR is definitly not a city car and even less a family one!

But Jack, you ordered your CSR since a while right? So what were you thinking mate?

Hey by the way mind a little review on the PSE before you part with it? Thanks.

I'm mystified as to why you bought the car. You knew all of this to be true prior to buying it. In the future, I would suggest leaving your checkbook at home when you go out to car shop! LOL!!! Just as we have a "cooling down" period here in the states before you can buy a gun...

    Re: 997S going

Hey if you can $wing it, just let it sit there until you feel like driving it. What the heck? No reason to feel guilty about that. Guys have car collections don't they?

    Re: 997S going

Tell me about it. I've got that illness, big time!!. Besides, any family only needs one family car. And my wife drives it. If we're doing something as a family, we take her ride. Simple. If I've got to take a kid, or two, somewhere or pick them up, the Porsche's plenty up to the task. Most kids would rather sit smashed in the rear of a 997S, than in comfort in a boring-a$$ sedan or SUV anyhow.

Hey, what kind of dysfunctional family is that where you have bring the kids back home in the back of your car cos they've got smashed?

    Re: 997S going

Jack, I live in London too - the weather has been dreadful for a long time now. Rain, dull skies, clouds...Just wait a bit longer. When the sun finally shines, you'll invent all sorts of excuses to go out for a drive...

    Re: 997S going

    Jack

I crawl through London traffic for half an hour each morning and evening and it still manages to put a smile on my face and weekends I find excuses to get out of town and enjoy it.

I'm trying to decide whether I buy a second car (SUV or estate) for those nights out with more than just the g/f and shifting "stuff" but wouldn't part with the 997S (except for a C4S or maybe a cab or maybe a 997TT).

I can't believe you didn't know these things before you bought the car. I am one of the most profligate people I know when it comes to buying cars (had a boxster S I sold with 350 miles on it) but even I wouldn't part with my 997 after 500 miles.

Give it time and at least enjoy it for the summer - you've already lost a shed load of cash a few months won't make much difference...

    Re: 997S going

sheesh only 500 miles and you wanna get rid of it?!?!?! i only get to drive my car on the weekends because i simply don't have the time during the weekdays to drive it around. maybe it is what easy_rider911 said, wait till the weather gets good, then driving becomes ten times more enjoyable!

    Re: 997S going

Being a petrol head is never easy. I suspect I will keep it but it's difficult to justify having 3 cars and god knows how many motorbikes.

Maybe when the sun comes out all will change.

I loved the comment about the cooling off period with the gun. That was exactly the problem! I had a GT3RS and was invited to the launch of the 997 and that's when it happened. Next time no cheque book!

I love London, but I would be a nervous wreck driving a new 997S in that traffic. Maybe a mini cooper.

    Re: 997S going

    Caterham CSR !!! Dribble dribble.

As for a 997 In London I understand getting rid as I drove through it twice yesterday from top to bottom and I hate it. No wonder I left years ago so that I could have some decent driving roads nearby and numerous race tracks. (Nottingham)

    Re: 997S going

I drive my 997 in London traffic day after day and love it. I even love it in the wet because it's so easy to control the tail. This may sound sad, but I enjoy driving my 997 the five miles from Wandsworth to the King's Road despite the bad traffic - there is always an opportunity to hear that engine...

    Re: 997S going

Well I heard mine across Mitcham Common as a GSXR opened a can of whoop arse on me
