    New owner

I'm due to collect my V6 pepper on Saturday and I'm looking forward to owning a second P car to compliment my 997 Carrera. The car is very highly spec'ed, Titanium with black. It has tiptronic, PCM with phone module, auto a/c, MFSW, heated seat and steering wheel, cd changer, cruise, park assist, 20" Cayenne design alloys with coloured centre crests, side skirts, xenons, sunroof and privacy glass. The dealer is fitting aluminium roof rails, silver air inlet grilles, wheel spacers, wheel arch extensions, Tequipment sport kit roof spoiler and sports exhaust pipes to it.

I'll post pics when I get it. It might not be fast but it should look great.

    Re: New owner

Welcome. We're looking forward to see your pictures.

    Re: New owner

Thanks RC. I'll take some pics of my little P car "fleet".

    Re: New owner

Congrats ISUK! Cayennes always look great! I also can't wait for the pictures!

I think your spec is going to look great.

I'm certain not everyone would agree, but frankly I don't care if the Cayenne is the V6, V8 or TT. Other Porsche products are better at sporty performance (your 997 for instance). If I were to buy a Cayenne I'd do what you did-worry less about the performance but spend your budget on making the vehicle a stylish and unique people/cargo mover.

Can't wait to see your photos...

    Re: New owner

    Thanks Mike and mcdelaug,

I seriously considered a V8 but after driving both cars and seeing the shocking fuel consumption the V8 can dip to (gas prices in the UK are extortionate remember) I figured that I could live with the performance of the V6 as my everyday car. I'm looking forward to driving something a little different from the heard and switched out of an E60 5 series BMW for it. I will post the pics asap. I've got my name down with my BMW dealer for the next generation E70 model X5 which is due late next year/early 2007. If I enjoy the pepper I may switch it in 18-24 months for the facelifted model assuming that looks good as well.

    Re: New owner

I am interested to look at your wheel arch extensions, I have not seen it before. Is it an optional item which we can purchase and install from the the regula Porsche dealer?
    Please post pictures if possible.
    Thanks in advance.

    Re: New owner

    Hi Avant,

The wheel arch extensions are available from any Porsche dealer as part of the Tequipment range. They are basically black plastic extensions which give the car more of an off roader look. The X5 has something similar as standard around it's arches but the Porsche kit is a bit more substantial. I think they make a huge difference to the appearance of the car. Just over 12 hours to go until I collect the car.

    Re: New owner

    Hi ISUK,
Thanks for the response, its probably just that I have not seen anyone here install them on their rides. I guess I would like to see the substantial wheel arch extensions on my ride too. Would appreciate if you could post pics of them on your ride soon.
I feel anxious for you too.

    Re: New owner

    Sound v.nice - I'm getting my MY'06 v6 in June/July with a very similar spec.

Any reason you got some ex-factory parts as dealer fit?

    Re: New owner

The car is fantastic I'm pleased to report. There was a major SNAFU on the dealer fit accessories which is yet to be resolved but I'm really pleased with the car overall. It looks great but I haven't managed to take any pics yet. Will do so ASAP and post them. Thanks to the guys on here for the advice re switching of PSM to improve throttle response. The car drives much, much better without this electronic handcuff aid on the gearbox. It starts in 1st gear (always 2nd gear with PSM on) and holds onto gears so long that you sometimes have to manually change up using the tiptronic buttons on the wheel. This is much preferrable to me than the PSM induced rapid upshifts which leaves you in too high a gear when you want power. The performance is great for such a heavy car but the fuel consumption is a bit eye watering at UK fuel prices.

I've done a couple of minor mods thus far. I've added the aluminium trim around the centre console and switched out the blanking plate in the rear console for the cubby holder and fitted the aluminium trim around it too. I've also changed the black Cayenne trunk badge for a silver one which fits in much better on my titanium car.

    xbox,

The parts I'm adding are nearly all dealer fit accessories. The car was a dealer ordered car which I managed to buy within three weeks of making my decision to go for a Cayenne V6. The only accessory I've had fitted which would have been a factory fit option is the aluminium roof rails.

    Re: New owner

..... and the Sports Exhaust Pipes;)

    Re: New owner

Whats the story with the rear console cubby hole?

Not part of the Non-smoker pack by any chance?

    Re: New owner

Your are right about the sports exhausts. This is a very expensive retrofit as you need a different under bumper section. The pipes themselves take literaly 10 minutes work to fit - I know because I watched the technician do it - yet the dealership wanted to charge me Pounds85 + VAT for this labour. Needless to say I will be having words with their service manager!

The rear cubby hole seems to be standard on the S but not the V6. I had bought the aluminium trim surround for the front and rear console from Gert at Carnewal.com and wasn't going to be able to fit it to the rear console of my car because of the blanking plate. Due to the accessory fitting cock up the dealer was keen to attempt to pacify me so I managed to get them to take the rear cubby out of a new S and fit it to my car. They are going to order a replacement part for their S. Knowing Porsche, this part is probably charged at well over Pounds100 retail but probably costs them something like Pounds10 or less from their supplier.
