C'mon, you can't be serious. Nobody would really think that a Boxster is a CGT or has anything to do with a CGT.
Adding an aerokit/spoilers to the Boxster only makes people like me think: "oh boy, such a beautiful car and this dumb a.. just ruined it, what a jack.ss." Honestly: if you really want to become the joke of the serious sportscar community in your region, do it, add an aerokit to the Boxster. Do you think people are dumb? You may impress some girlies with spoilers/wings but not real sportscar enthusiasts. A GT3 needs a wing, a GT2 needs a wing, even the 911 Turbo needs one. But a Boxster with 280 HP at max and very refined aerodynamics from the factory?
I'm pretty sure that Porsche is gonna offer some sort of aerokit for the Boxster sooner or later but they just serve what customers demand...for money.

Enhancement with such things as full leather, PASM, optional (Porsche) road wheels, sound systems etc are one thing. They have a purpose and improve the basic product. Defacement such as plastic extensions that do nothing other than advertise the owner's adolecent bad taste are something else. :

I liked the 986 aerokit, well just the front spoiler, the side skirts but not the rear spoiler, sadly, it was only available at a whole package due to high speed stability.
I find all of you very condescendent frankly.
Someone likes the 986 aerokit, so what!
What about Harrold's great car on the 996 board.
It's just a simple 996 Carrera that clearly doesn't "NEED" the aerokit. The 996 aerodynamics are pretty excellent for 320 h0.
And yet nobody said he was a wannabe, actually, everyboday congratulated him.
The 986 aerokit doesn't come from a higher purpose model like the 996 GT3, but some people like wings I guess.

I would argue that anyone who wants an aerokit on a Boxster has probably bought the wrong car in the first place. The Boxster was never meant to be an extrovert's sports car. You want show as well as a great drive? Buy a Noble. You get all the wings you could ever want as standard.

Exactly..A 996 has the standard wing that does the job. So why get an aerokit? Oh I forgot its a 996, its ok.

Again, thats your opinion. One thing I can agree on is I don't like the 986 aerokit wing. And who said its all about a wing, slow down a bit.

I'm not trying to condescend to anyone...It's your car, you do what you want with it.
I ordered a 987S because it's a very elegant roadster, more in the mold of the 550 than the CGT, I think. And to be true to that image, I would never consider an aerokit. And although I can't speak for Dreamcar, I get the sense that this is how he feels too. But these are just opinions. I once saw a car with different swatches of carpet covering its entire exterior. Again, it's your car, do what you want.
I have no idea when or if an aerokit will be produced or the 987 however.

It all depends what you want, you're right.
For what it's worth, I personally believe that a Noble has a more sporty image than a Boxster.
IMHO, a Boxster is more show than a Noble, just because it's a convertible in the 1st place.
Both are awesome cars though, but Noble is more track orientated I guess.
As for the Boxster, it's perfect, it just suffers from the hairdresser's image, although a bit less with time it seems.

my first Porsche was a 986S and I loved it to bits!End of the day, Mcdelaug is right, it's a totally subjective thing.
I would not put an aerokit on any Porsche car, 986 or 996 but then again, I would not put down anyone who orders one, I'm referring to your post RC, man!!! What were you on??? bad day?

The Boxster is as much akin to a Porsche 550 as a steam powered Trabant. You sit a lot lower in a 550, the motor mounts are solid, there is no power steering, the brakes even then were minimal, and all up it was tons more visceral and a ton plus less weight. I doubt that many Boxster owners would want a car as raw a 550.
If some guy wants to add a wing to the back of his Boxster, so what. Its overall shape is a tad high and bulbous and a rear wing can change that look, and also as serve as a handy garage table to rest a can of beer on.
Please dont get tooo snotty about intent over elegeance, purity etc, because those sorts of prissy sobriquets just fog up the Boxster even more as a Barbibox on wheels.
Enjoy the handling, bitch about the tickets please!

I'm certain they are very different indeed. Every modern Porsche is very different from their cars of that generation. I think you are pushing my allusion further than it will bear and certainly further than I implied. Porsche themselves use the 550 as a philosophical reference for the Boxster, so it can safely serve that purpose here.

I really couldn't state any more clearly that those were my opinions about the car, and I don't pretend to dictate how everyone should perceive every Porsche product. Speaking of which, those of us that buy the 987 see it for the excellent performance value it is. The modern styling, mid-engine layout and convertible top are all nice too. If the guy in the next car thinks I'm "prissy" or a hairstylist or whatever that's fine, I don't feel compelled to impress him. I just want to enjoy my driving.
Surely you love your Weimaraner for your own reasons...what would you think of someone who thought you should get a Rottweiler instead?
One more thing, getting a ticket would require that I break some traffic laws. Of course I would NEVER do that, I mean, it's simply not nice!
