Your dealer made an odometer reset before he handed over the car to you. You haven't reset your trip computer since you got the car, haven't you? In some countries it is allowed to reset the odometer during the first x miles to zero. This is to get the car to the customer with zero miles on the odometer even though the car was test driven by Porsche or driven during transport. The programmers of the instrument cluster have either forgotten to reset the trip meter also or it wasn't specified to do so.

Ewi, when I picked the car up it had 25 miles on the odometer, I was interested because there was a thread at the time asking what would be on the odometer at delivery and it was pointed out that Porsche will have road tested the cars and there would be a few miles on, I am sure the dealer wasn't driving it around because I was aware of delivery and saw it prepared.
The trip cannot be reset (at least not by me) to show the odometer at zero, I have reset the trip a few times to zero but I would not have thought it would have any effect.

2K5c2scab, it is a Nokia Bluetooth kit, i was pleased with one in my last car and since my wife and I drive each others cars it is great when you drive a car that is not your main one because it automatically logs you on.
Having said that I am disappointed, it does not mute the radio (but I was aware of that) it has its own speaker and microphone and basically with the additional engine noise in the Porsche it is not worht making calls, you are limted to shouting "I WILL HOME IN 15 MINUTES" after that it is useless, but very discreet.
Retro fit of a telephone module is best part of twice the factory fit cost, almost Pounds1,000 in UK so I will wait for the next one and order a factory unit, duplicate sim card and pain for my wife (Who never gets to drive it now anyway)though it is.

That's 8700 miles,not Km.
In the first 4 days I had my Boxster S (almost 3 weeks ago) I did over 500 Km
It will be 3 weeks on Thursday since I have it and it's already close to 2000 Km now :P

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY :
When i got delivery of my car it had 23 km on the odometer.
After 2 days ,while trying to understand ALL the functions of the car electronics i found out THE SAME ...
My PCM showed 20 more km than the odometer.
For example ODOMETER 450
PCM 470
BUT the interesting thing is that in GREECE it is not allowed nor they have the proper gear to reset the odometer at the PORSCHE DEALERSHIP.....
Maybe this is an issue that is done at PORSCHE GERMANY
In either case, at first i got a little upset, but after i thought....okey its 20 km more , what's the problem??
BUT PLEASE NOTE:
YOU CAN RESET THIS FUNCTION AND START FROM BEGINNING AS I DID...
BUT ITS IS BETTER NOT TO DO IT...
in this case you will have a nice reference to::
1)hours of driving
2)consumprion overall
3)average speed you car waqs driven

FIRST
there are 3 computers
1) on board computer
2) computer "since...." auto resteting after the car stands still for more than 2 hours (or manually reset)
3) computer overall (the one your are reffering) which showes everything from the beginning-AND CAN BE RESET BY YOU-
FURTHERMORE, what do you mean that you have rest the computer several times-which computer?- and what you think it affected and why?

my mistake didn't read properly, but yikes x2!!! miles?!
I don't have time to drive the car around the whole day unfortunately, i have to wait till weekends for time

Having 25 mls on the odometer does not necessarily mean that it hasn't been reset to zero before by Porsche Germany. Anyway, I have another theory. It might have something to do with rounding errors. PCM and instrument cluster are different control units done by different companies. PCM is done by Becker and the instrument cluster probably by Siemens VDO (my 993 instrument cluster is done by VD0, so I assume they still do it for the 997). So, it might be a problem of implementing the same thing in two different ways. In case of rounding errors I would assume that the difference you are noticing will increase with the number of miles you drive.

The odometer reset I was talking about, is tied to some conditions. You cannot reset more than x miles and you cannot do the reset if you passed the limit of y miles. That initial factory reset is allowed in most countries. The best thing is, that you most likely don't need any special gear to do that reset yourself (as long as you haven't passed y miles). In all cars with digital odometers that I know it is just a combination of pressing some switches in the right way. If it is not already on the net somewhere I will find out, as soon as my 997S gets delivered in July
