    hello.. just a small question

    you know the rear bumper.. the 2 extra box things side by side on your license plate...

    is it possible to remove them??

    i am ordering a 987S too..but just wondering if they are removeable... : \

    Might be easier to try and order a replacement European pattern rear bumper? Not cheap, I am sure but..

    The European ones don't have those extensions on. Look like they are part of the mouldings. Although I have only seen pictures.

    Malmsteen,

    The bumperettes can be removed, but leave holes. A new bumper cover on the 986 had to be drilled to mount bumperettes. I have a friend that had to replace his bumper cover, but decided against the bumperettes.

    Only elongated license plates do not have those box thingy like the European cars do. Too bad for the North Americans, they will come with them. They are there to cover the spacing left from the short license plates.

    Actually, as other posters have discussed before, North American cars have the "bumperettes" so that the vehicle meets our 5mph bumper law. The license plate really isnt why they're present.

    Beautiful car.. I'm planning on ordering a SY 987S as well so it's nice to see some of the options and how they look on the car. I think i'm sold on the belts and center console. The roll bar i'm still debating.

    How do you like PASM? Expensive option..
