The thing I don't like about the black guages in the 997/S is thay don't seem to be that really nice classy deep rich black like they were in earlier 911s.

I was debating getting black dials for my S but the silver ones won the arguement in my head.
Mainly because it's one of the defining visual cues of the S vs. base.
The black dials sure do look good though. If you get the black dials make sure the sports chrono dial is black. I believe I read on RENNTEAM somewhere that if you order black dials the sports chrono clock comes black but I'd make 100% certain.
Also depends on the int./ext. color color's. Which color were you looking at again ?

I really like the white dials especially in a black interior. Looks very sporty. And otherwise it's too gloomy. It's true that sometimes you have a little bit difficulties to read it properly but it's absolutely tolerable.
And by the way these dials would cost a lot of money as an option. You would need some very good reasons to do it wihtout the white dials voluntarily. I don't see any.

Colour tastes simply.
I have them on my 996, was so cool at first, I hate them now, look so cheap IMO!
I've gone with black dials for the 997S and got confirmed that the chrono will also be black.
It's really like ext. and int. colours honestly.
You can have them in all sorts of colours, which is cool.

I also had thoughts on whether I should've ordered the dials black, but I didn't think it would really make a big difference, so I left it. The white dials don't seem to bug me, so I'm happy

That's true. Sport Chrono dial will either be black or silver, no matter which colour you pick for the main dials. Surely looks weird IMHO.
