Best Porsche Dealer in Germany?
I would like to draw from the experience of some of the German members here to understand what is the best way to buy a Porsche in Germany. By looking at car shopping portals I get the feeling that the best selection and pricing in Europe can be had in Germany. The only exception as to pricing is perhaps Switzerland (lower VAT) but that is offset by less selection as to colors and models compared to Germany (plus one can get the pricing advantage of a Swiss car by buying a car in Germany on export plates and importing into Switzerland).
So what is a good dealer in Germany? I know there are a few dealers (informally) priviledged with a more direct relationship with the factory. Do some of these pre-order cars in order to compress waiting times for their clients. And who is more aggressive on pricing?
To give you an idea of what I am looking for (or, better, about how confused I am) let's say that until a few days ago I was relatively sure I'd go for a 997S (with or without -20mm, that's the first dilemma). There seems to begin to be a selection of these as ex-demonstrator or brand new pre-ordered at dealers in Germany, so I thought I could go for one of those. Then, I realized none of the cars available is my favorite color (zanzibar red, or as called elsewhere, pearl orange, I currently have a 996 c2 in that color and love it) and that is because the color is no longer made, so I thought perhaps I should special order the car in that color. Which is ok (I can swallow the Euro 3,300 special order color fee I guess I'll have to pay), but then we are talking end of the summer delivery times unless I can find a way to slot in (this is the second dilemma).
Which brings up additional dilemmas, notably that by then the new c4s (it's not clear at this stage, but it seems the c4s will indeed be wider than the c2s!) and 380+hp kits will be out, in which case should I perhaps wait or will it be another six months before you can actually get your hands on one of those anyhow? And will a -20mm option be available on these? No dealer in the UK or Italy seems to understand the first thing about all of the above options and timelines.
Add to all of this that I may also want to order one of the new Gt3s once they come out (need two cars, see, but that's another story) and perhaps trade-in my italian plated 996 c2, and you;ll understand I am in a complicated mess only the best dealer can help me solve.
Any suggestions?
