    Got a E55 AMG

I had an eventfull weekend--I traded my 2000 BMW 740i Sport, sold my 2002 Carrera, and bought a 2003 E55 AMG. I sold my Carrera to a local Porsche dealer Sunday, and they sold it Monday!

This E55 is what would happen if the BMW 740i Sport & the Carrera had a baby--and then fed it lots of steriods:

479 hp, 516 lb ft of torque, 0 -60 in 4.5 secs. Adjustable air suspension, and in sport mode 2, handles very close to the Carrera--the steering is not quite as direct as the Carrera, but since I've never tracked my cars, I'll never know the difference. There is no body roll (at least that I can feel), yet it's a very refined ride.

I've owned 3 Porsches since 1989, and it was a tough decision, but this car is unbelievable. It has more power than any car I've ever driven in, and it has 4 doors, so my kids are happy too!!!I Although there'll always be a special place in my heart for the shape of the Carrera, this car is beautiful, muscular, and aggressive looking. The interior is drop dead georgious, very refined and hi tech, and not one squeak or rattle. And the exhaust is wonderful--not as loud as PSE, but very pronounced and refined.

I got the second one delivered by the dealer:

    pewter silver
    charcoal leather
heated/ventilated front seats (90 degrees here today, and no legs sticking to the seats)
    bi-xenons
    keyless go
drive dynamic seats (side bolsters adjust to offset cornering forces, and lumbar massage (like United first class )
panorama roof w/ solar panel (which ventilates the car when parked, using the solar cells)
    integrated Motorola V60i phone
and a bunch of other goodies

I've enjoyed the community on this and those "other" p-car boards, and will still be around, but not as actively as before (anyone know any good AMG boards?). And sometime in the future, I get another Porsche--maby a 997. As Arnold said, I'll be back !!

    Nice car Congrats!!!!!

    Re: Got a E55 AMG

    Nice car Congrats!!!!!

    congrat!

When you are married and have kids, the E55 is for sure the most practicle performance car in the market.

You gotta love the looks on the so called sport car driver's face when you outrun them with the whole family in the car...

A good AMG board? What's wrong with this one?

    Congratulations! Enjoy the new car.

Do you have any interior or engine shots?

First at all, congrats. Nice car (well, I think I know this car from somewhere... ).

This AMG Forum can work nicely if we get more contributors.
There is a good AMG forum on www.mbworld.org but I've been asked by one of the moderators to keep a low profile because I would "advertise Rennteam.com" and they look upon us as a competitor. Seems they overlooked that we don't have any commercial background of whatever sort but I don't try to find an explenation for that anymore.

I have the knowledge and I have the car and I could provide a lot of information. But my problem is: nobody asks.
So as long as E55 owners don't want to contribute to this forum, it will stay pretty empty. I read the E55 forum on mbworld.org and most posts are regarding how fantastic the E55 is and how many street races owners seem to win, even against motorcycles. For me as a former 996 Turbo with 543 HP+ owner and former pro rallye sport racer, this is somehow kiddy play. I also don't understand why some E55 owners want to make a race car out of their nice high power limousine. This is actually what makes the E55 that attractive, if I want a race car, I buy a GT3, GT2 or a Ferrari. But anyway: every E55 owner is welcomed to contribute to this forum, we need any post and any help we can get. I might not have an answer to all questions but at least I have a place where I can ask. I'll be at the AMG factory around June and if somebody has questions, it is NOW the time to ask.

    mbworld board

I just read the mbworld.org... Those people over there are pretty lame.

Motocycle street race, drag racing...etc Ouch!

    I still prefer this forum.

I'm not sure they're lame, I rather think they're a little bit too enthusiastic about their car. I like to have a broader view of cars and performances, this is why I never really put my whole "money" on one car. I guess you're the same.
I'm pretty sure that more serious (and technical) and less emotional discussions start as soon as more people actually own and drive a E55.
I'm also surprised to read that some 22 year olds are driving the E55. Frankly speaking: this is not really a car for a 22 year old, at this age I would have hated owning a limousine, no matter how much power.

    Re: mbworld board

Congrats Poursha. She is a beauty.

I would agree in saying that this board is far better than MBWorld. The biggest problem is that owners will never admit the faults of a car they have purchased. RC has only had his E55 for a brief amount of time, yet he has given his honest opinion on both the strong and weak qualities.

BTW, I am a young man and drive a C32 to work. When I am tired and have to crawl through traffic here in America, I'm in no mood to shift or deal with an overly firm ride. Don't worry, a sports car for the weekend is on the way. <img src="http://www.rennteam.com/w3timages/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

BTW #2, I am thinking to have Renntech overhaul the suspension on the C32. AMG did a horrible job, even for a "sports sedan".

    C32 is great

I also use a C32 when I don't have the mood for a sport car but still want to drive fast with such relax manner. C32 is perfect, but not enough room and comfort as my X5 though.

E55 seem to be perfect replacement, I am not married and have no kids, but a girlfriend and a dog..

    A girlfriend and a dog?
William, now you have the perfect excuse to buy a E55.

To be serious: the E55 provides a lot of room and don't get me wrong, it is a wonderful car and very very poweful.
If you like the C32, I'm sure you'll love the E55.
Don't listen too much to my advices, I'm somebody who just lost his sports car.
The most stupid thing is: when I went fast in my 996 Turbo, nobody really cared. When I go fast in my E55, people seem to think I'm crazy and show me all kind of signs with their hands and fingers, not to speak about the flashing lights I get.
Seems that E-class owners have to behave.

You should see how people react to a X5 over here

We got to execrise some self-control when we are driving our normal car.
