    Carlos from Spain:

Toto says he is genuinely concerned about the drivers and gives morality lectures to the other team bosses.. meanwhile he is the one giving his driver's the biggest porpoising damage of all the teams over the option of raising ride height (a price to pay for their own fault for not reducing porpoising in developing as much as othee teams)... oh the hypocrisy.

Yes, Toto who sold his own driver down the river points at others, a fkg jerk, clean up your own stable.

Other externalities are missing from this cartoon:  The miserable deaths and injuries of third world and Chinese children miners in holes mining exotic minerals for teslas, solar panels and wind towers for one, and the huge toxic waste problem as recycling is impossible with composites.

Tesla, powered by the child labor from the Democratic Republic of Congo and before the resident Tesla fanboi goes ballistic, regardless of what Musk May say, there is no discernible way to determine the origins of that cobalt metal in the supply chain.  Since Congo mines over 70% of the worlds cobalt supply annual, this material remains a large part of the Tesla supply chain.

    https://electrek.co/2022/04/22/tesla-using-cobalt-free-lfp-batteries-in-half-new-cars-produced/

unless you don’t use cobalt at all.  How many others are going this direction?  Hmmm. and "personally I blame the government of Congo. How about you?  "

No I blame the "civilised" brainwashed who buy into solar/wind/electric cars.  The market is the problem, and the civilised also then offshore the deaths and pollution.  It's a suite of exotics like lithium, tungsten, cobalt, tantalum, indium, and gallium- not just the cobalt example above, nor is it just the Congo. I spent my first career as a hard rock [mining] exploration geologist, and my worst memories are of coming to develop a project in Morocco, PNG, etc., and seeing the crushed feet mining in sandels, the deaths from toxicity and cave-ins until we established proper procedures, management, safety and training.

If you want to think for your self, data and analysis is readily available, e.g.:

    https://www.greeneuropeanjournal.eu/dirty-rare-metals-digging-deeper-into-the-energy-transition/

    https://www.heartland.org/news-opinion/news/is-it-ethical-to-purchase-a-lithium-battery-powered-ev

You can also learn what amazingly efficient and clean resources hydrocarbons are -  as car enthusiasts we all know this intuitively.  You might even find out what an incredible waste of resources wind/solar is as they are unreliable and inefficient - you might even find out FRG has a complete power grid backup system to power the nation, when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine, and you might even notice massive grid failures and skyrocketing power costs  in Australia, California.... coming to your house soon.Smiley

My local power company has gone woke, pressured by the elite funded eco-terrorists, and is shutting clean scrubbed coal, and hydro for wind/solar -- when these don 't produce in the winter, in the Rockies the customers will freeze to death, the height of corporate negligence.

Just like Germany, we have our own energy systems:  4 wood stoves and 48Kw natural gas Gen:

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Verstappen will have an easy win if he can stay ahead of Alonso after turn 2. Alonso is a great defender so he will be a rolling road block for everyone behind while Verstappen build up a giant lead before tire change.

I think Verstappen will drive like a grown up today, he won't go argy bargy against Alonso, running 2nd behind him and find chances to pass for the lead will always be better than a DNF. He needs points. Alonso on the other hand won't care. He has everything and won everything already, one more win or one more DNF makes no difference.

If the Haas' run in formation, it will be difficult for Ocon to get up the field. Same with Russell, who will have a bit of a tough time going pass Ocon.

Perez will need to deal with a couple Alfas to start with before he can charge up the field. The Williams of Albon won't be a challenge.

Leclerc should be able to finish in the top 10. I'd say 6th max.

What a race, great drives from the podium finisher! 👍🏻

BTW how comes that the so called new hero of the pack (GR) was behind Lewis? Maybe it‘s just due to his poorer starting position, keeping in mind that as so often already in this season he got lucky with the 2nd VSC… 🙄

This time the old fox FA couldn‘t hold Lewis behind him and at the end he was whining as he was not able to overtake his fellow countryman (EO)

RedBull and Ferrari are still +/- 0,5 faster than Merc per lap, but still they‘re now at least a Top 3 team (again).

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Not surprised the diva threw a fit after pitting and coming out behind Hamilton.

But he drove perfectly in the closing laps to hold off Sainz.

Pretty much first time this season Hamilton and Russell race straight up on equal footing. Russell has tires a couple laps newer after the safety car restart, but in the end Hamilton pulled out quite a good gap over Russell.

Leclerc finished exactly where I predicted. Not so much for the dream start fro Alonso.

Zhou is impressive in the Alfa!

Tsunoda, 🤦🏻‍♂️. Didn't even make the first corner out of the pits.

Poor Schumacher can't catch a break.

Who else of note? Latifi. He really need to disappear off the grid, daddy's billions can only carry him so far.

Maybe? Smiley mate, he started 8 and still finished right behind Hamilton, scoring yet again another top 5 finish, and without complaining about the car being "the worst he has ever driven in Canada".

Meanwhile Hamilton is still whining after the Mercedes showing a competitive pace, seems that unless he gets a car that rides circles around the rest like he is used to he won't stop whining.

Faster car, DRS, fresher tires and a long straight, Alonso didn't even bother to defend. As to Ocon after the safety car, he was given team orders not to overtake in spite of being faster than Ocon.

To be fair, don't think someone like Russell was going to fight Hamilton when the Mercs where 3 and 4 finally and rather just keep his position which was easily secured.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

    @CoS

wait and see how Lewis will deliver as soon as he developed the car in the right direction!

George is a great driver but how could he say „this was the worst car I‘ve ever driven in Canada“ coming from WilliamsF1? angry

This year is all about qualifying and starting positions, so if you qualify better than your team mate, you‘ll finish in front of him.

Lewis was slower on older tyres because he knew that he‘d gonna pit again and therefore he lowered the pace and manage his lap times.

It‘s obvious how much better RedBull is than all other teams as even having older tyres and CS being in the DRS zone for the last laps the Ferrari could just catch up, it was clear that he was never ever going to make a serious overtaking move…

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

That was fun except for the overlong second safety car.  The last ten laps w Max's maturity plus traction plus power holding off Carlos on DRS FOR TEN LAPS!!!  Ferrari and RB pulled a 7 second gap on MB in those 10 laps at the end, when the real rubber hit the track.  Ferrari's bad pit probably cost Chuck 3rd.

    FVo_kxfWQAUZrd5.jpeg

This could be the first sign that competitiveness is heating up.  Sky Sport video is super, now if they could just fire the commentators to season endSmiley

A sigh or relief - that both Ferraris finished and both Chuck and. Carlos drove well, just one more sh.tty and one slow pit, why can't they get it down?????

I believe this is like the first weekend both of them are running basically the same setup. Hamilton had an awful testing session and Mercedes just copy over Russell's and abandoned their experiment.

These two seems to be working much better together than some critics thought. Think they really formed a master/apprentice relationship where George is learning quickly from Lewis. Either one is good with following team orders to maximize the team's points haul. For some hotter head drivers, they could well try and challenge 3rd place against their teammate.

I am quite curious as to who Mercedes might pick up to partner with Russell after Hamilton is gone. If McLaren doesn't lock up Norris long term, would Mercedes try and poach him over? Norris fits the image perfectly, a quick, well rounded driver with good manners.

Mad Max's racing line coming off the hairpin, before the long straight, gave him better and earlier traction than Sain's line coming off it. Just gave the RB the edge to keep the Ferrari behind.

The RB chassis potentially played a role in allowing MV to take that line versus the Ferrari and CS. However, a great driver is often able to extract that small advantage out of a car.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

What I do not understand is why Sainz put the Hard tires on for the last stint. The Medium tire should have lasted long enough and would have given him better traction.

I will watch it again but on recollection Max definitely had that little hairpin advantage sussed out. He just got the RB's chassis straighter earlier on.

Sainz's "hards'' were newer than Max's tyres and deemed by the teams the best tyre, from what I recall.

Stellar drive from Max though, under pressure.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

Only surpasses Lewee as a woke wanker - ARAMCO his sponsor, petrol his fuel.

    Vom571YH.jpeg

Sebastian Vettel likes to use his reputation for a good cause. The four-time world champion regularly campaigns for more tolerance in society, against discrimination against minorities, for the fight against climate change or simply for responsible, ecological action.

For the Montreal guest performance, the Heppenheimer had written a very special environmental protection topic on the flags. With a printed T-shirt and a new helmet design, Vettel denounced oil extraction from tar sands in the Canadian province of Alberta.

Vettel described it as a crime that forest areas fall victim and the landscape is destroyed.

The action brought Vettel a fair amount of criticism from local politicians.

Alberta's energy minister, in particular, rushed ahead via social media and described Vettel as a hypocrite because, as a F1 driver, he doesn't exactly practice an....[...] environmentally friendly sport and his employer Aston Martin, Aramco, has the world's largest oil producer as a sponsor.

Actually, the action had already made enough headlines. But on Sunday (June 19th) a few more were to come unexpectedly. The trigger was Vettel's surprising refusal to wear the controversial helmet in the race. Instead, the driver started with its traditional design.

When asked about the reasons for the decision, Vettel was taciturn in an interview with F1 broadcaster Sky: "I don't want to say anything, I have more than one helmet."

When reporter Peter Hardenacke asked whether the team had exerted any pressure, the driver evaded again. The 34-year-old ended the interview with the sentence: "Do we have any other questions?"

Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack denied that Vettel had been banned from protesting: “He wanted to use the helmet and the T-shirt to draw attention to the topic. At some point he decided that attention had been drawn."

"Yes, he can don't wear the same T-shirt every day", the leader tried to take the matter with humor. According to Krack, Vettel always coordinates his actions with the team well in advance. Then you think about a common approach. "You've seen in the past that such campaigns mainly took place on Friday and Saturday. But of course he's free to make his own decisions. He's a free man," said Krack.

But one thing is also clear: the Montreal helmet met with little approval at Aston Martin. While other Vettel initiatives used to happily be shared via the team's own social media channels, this time there were no relevant posts at all.

The statement was completely hidden, the helmet was not even visible in the picture. The topic is also more than clearly ignored in the racing team's media database, which provides photo material for reporting by press representatives.

As you can hear in the paddock, not only Aston Martin should see some Vettel actions critically. Even the F1 management is apparently not always enthusiastic when the German puts his finger in the wound and offends....[...] the governments of well-paying Grand Prix countries or alienates potential advertising partners. The tolerance initiative "We Race as One", which was launched under pressure from Lewis Hamilton during the Corona period, is now hardly visible.

Comments on Planet1 show a trend:  "Every dime he has earned has been through fossil fuels."

Moving slightly to the political spectrum but it remains a perfect response to Vettel's boneheaded move.  A few years ago, Canadian media entrepreneur and lawyer Ezra Levant wrote Ethical Oil about Canada's oil industry including the tar sands.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethical_Oil  Meanwhile, Vettel considers it okay to accept funding from a government known for human rights violations.

WE'll agree to disagree, ALL THE BEST!  I presume you blame apple, nike etc too, and demanded they leave red china, and went on strike against all ev, solar and wind towers producers for failure to clean sourceSmiley

toxicity is relative, the problem with virtue signaling with your EV is you've become a serious polluter.  100 years from now oil will reign still, produced from coal. We're still reading by oil lamps with light bulbs and power plants..... oh. my driven by hydrocarbons [oil, natural gas and coal].

Clearly you haven't looked at the energy inputs to produce Evs, solar panels and wind towers-- they are very inefficient to produce from raw materials to finished product-- no way you can use them to produce more of them, you need cheap efficient  hydrocarbon energy to do so...Try not to light your EV battery on fire, and provide your detailed detox recycle plan, as well as your clean sourcing documents for all exotic inputs, otherwise you're just another SebSmiley

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

As I have said many times virtue signals are not my thing at all. Sorry for any misunderstanding. I drive my EV because it is fast and reliable. That’s about it. I’m as far from a green or global warming believer. I’m looking at this just from a tech perspective and don’t see much of a future for oil once we master electric storage and production.
Happy to disagree since I don’t hate ICE cars or EVs.
The Apple products are just another flavor of work product. In cases where workers are being mistreated I am assuming the local laws in those countries are such to allow this to happen. This is where I would make changes.  The companies are competing under the same rules.  This is the same in all countries. Here in the US we give very little vacation since this is the norm. Europeans think we work too much as a result. On the other extreme you have virtual slavery and horrible working conditions.  To me it makes more sense to fix those laws and governments than to stop using those resources and put all those workers out of any type of job.  Not using those resources and starving the workers of any work makes no sense.
back of F1. Hope you all watched the short classic F1 clips I posted yesterday.

    Re: [2022] Formula 1

More F1 drama from Merc. indecision

Seems Toto wants the rules changed for all teams because his can't get the bouncing under control.

"In addition to sport on the track, there is always a lot of politics going on in Formula 1 off the track. But such a clamor as in Montreal has not been experienced in the premier class for a long time. The bouncing problem of the new generation of racing cars and the possible dangers for the drivers divide the field into two camps. Mercedes is in one, and the nine remaining teams are in the other."
